McCarthy says he wants to get RB Christine Michael more open looks running the ball, instead of going against 8- or 9-man fronts.

McCarthy said "you have to take it further than the stats" when it comes to James Starks. There are other factors involved in poor play.

McCarthy said the base defense gave good results but he saw lots of mental errors because they haven't played that formation very often

McCarthy said Nick Perry is being looked at right now. Day after injury presents a "whole different presentation" during evaluation.

McCarthy said he has not sat down with the medical staff to discuss injuries from yesterday's game.

Ron Zook said he's been lobbying for Randall Cobb to return punts all year. It took a while, but he won the fight.

Capers on Matthews at ILB: "Clay is one of those guys that I think he can rush and drop equally as well because of his athletic ability."

Dom Capers thinks Clay Matthews can still be effective with the injured shoulder: "Clay gave us everything he had."

Do you think that Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson could be Comeback Player of the Year in the NFL this season?

That factor is called losing a step which apparently was noticed by many all the way back in TC that I guess MM and others didn't notice/ignored.

Currently, the Seahags are my least favorite team in the NFL.  Not that I'm bitter over the games in 2012 and 2014.... Okay you got me, yes I am still bitter and even the Pack beating them in 2015 didn't quite get the stench out for me.

I have mixed feelings on Russell Wilson.  I rooted for him as a Badgers QB for 4 months, and off the field, he sounds like a guy that is trying to do things in life the right way.  That said, I now view him as the enemy and he is a powerful strong enemy.  You can never rest for 60 minutes against the guy.  He has too many skills in his arsenal for you to ever think that you can relax when playing against him.

In that dreaded 2014 Championship game, he was awful for about 55 minutes of that game.  But for the last 5 minutes, he more than made up for it by playing some perfect football at the perfect time.  He's special in that regard in that he basically never concedes a football game.  His arm is so strong and his deep balls are so accurate, you are never safe with a lead for very long against him.

I believe the Seahawks think so highly of Wilson, they can put any group of bums out there for an offensive line and he will figure out a way to play well no matter who is in front of him.  So far that strategy seems to be working, partly because as usual they also have an awesome defense to complement Wilson on days where the offense is stagnant.

I'd be happy if ANY other team won a Super Bowl this year instead of Seattle.  If I had a choice right now of Vikings or Seattle to win the Super Bowl, I'd rather see the Queens win than Seattle.

I hope somehow someway, we see a Packers' victory over the Hags this weekend as at the very least, it might give me some temporary joy over seeing my least favorite team suffer for a bit...  That said, if someone put a gun to my head and asked me who I really think is going to win it all this year... ::Gulp::, I would pick the Seahawks...  I hate them, but I respect them and I think in my mind, they are the favorites to win it all.  Dallas would have a fighting chance against them, but I would not trust a rookie QB vs. that defense, no matter how special a rookie Prescott is.

Saw an interesting stat posted in last night's game. The Hags are now 6-1 when the legion of doom (Sherman, Thomas, and Kam C.) all start a game and play.

When one of the 3 or more miss a start, they are 2-2-1.

Thomas is out for the season with a broken leg.

Russ has played 12 games this year. 12 TD passes. You gotta relax on the vast and deep wonders of Russ Wilson.

C'mon man....

Will this be another example of a coaching staff sticking with subpar play for an extended period of time before fixing it? I had my fill of their stubbornness with the inside linebackers, safeties and tight ends over the last several years.

payback beeotchs.  2015 was the 1st chapter.  Sunday is the next.  time for some Lambeau karma on those followers of the constant cud chewing coach.
one game at a time, run the table, indeed.  they're all playoff games from here on out.

Just like he didn't noticed that Lacy gained 30 pounds until last season was over?

No Earl Thomas.

People sincerely underestimate how good Earl Thomas really is.

He's the reason that secondary is so good. Not Richard Sherman.

They believe in Tom Cable being able to coach up some guys in to a serviceable, zone-blocking unit complementing Wilson's mobility. Until recently see;  Perry, Darren and Whitt, Joseph.

Now that's just crazy talk.

I agree with McCarthy about stats not telling the whole story on Starks, it's clear McCarthy calls running plays to manipulate the DBs. As a runner though, Starks hasn't once passed the eyeball test, he's running poorly. He's missing wide open lanes, initiating contact when he doesn't have to, missing opportunities to be involved with the passing game, etc. Obviously they want Starks to succeed, but I think getting the Safeties and CBs to look for the run is more important to them. Safeties cheat up when they think it's a run, that opens up opportunities. In that way Starks is contributing more than the stats indicate.

Russell Wilson is a fraud of a human and a fraud of a QB.

Can you explain what makes him a fraud of a human being? Curious...

He turned me into a newt...I got better.

Seemed to me that Michaels was going straight ahead getting four or five yards when he wasn't getting blown up behind the line of scrimmage. I agree that Starks' instincts for when and where to hit the hole are just gone. He's in a slump. RUN SOMEONE ELSE.

Michael had 9 carries for 19 yards, which does not look good. But, as coach McObvious pointed out the 8/9 man fronts were tough on him. Christine had runs of:

7, 2, -1, 5  --  2nd quarter drive ending in TD to Cobb  4 for 13

1 carry for 1 yard on failed 3rd quarter (4 and out) drive where Rip got stuffed on 4th. On this drive they took the deep shot to Adams on 1st and 10, then the 2nd down dive to CM. I think we all saw the 2nd down dive call after the deep shot. I understand the deep shot, Monty had just given them the 44 after a 39 yard KO return, so the deep pass made sense. I would have thrown on 2nd down, deep again...

1, 1, -2  --  last drive running out the clock

Michael should have sufficient incentive to perform at his best this week. Hopefully McCarthy follows through with the opportunities. If they start the game with Starks in the backfield...  #fml.

Seeing them lose them would be great but listening to Spermhead fans talking about being in 10 Super Bowls would not be tolerable in anyway to me.

As for the Seahawks this is one team that is rapidly approaching Vikings and Cowboys territory of hatred for me.  But I will give them credit for one thing they play aggressive and hard nosed defense and I would give anything to see that in GB.

And Wilson?  His year has been so so but I would still be very leary of him and his ability to extend plays.

If GB just gave Ty Montgomery number 27 It would look like a 40 lb weight loss and an ankle miracle for Christmas. This time of year is all about miracles, isn't it? We'd be the jolliest bunch of a-holes this side of the nuthouse.

Good news.

They're 40% to plan.

Vikings losing 10 Super Bowls.

MATH TIME!!!!!!!

4 Super Bowls (all losses) in 55 years. But they haven't been in one in 40 years. So:

/Speilman(draft picks/public interest)€3 more new stadiums(¥Ponder{Packer free agents}Relocation.

The Vikings will lose their 6th Super Bowl in 2061 (Ironically, Vikings 100th anniversary season) while playing in Havana Cuba. The NFL will cease to exist in 2067.

The numbers don't lie.

Pete Carroll on Christine Michael: "He’s been around us a long time, and I’ve been particularly close to him and didn’t like to see him go."

Mike McCarthy: "Nick Perry has a significant hand injury. He will not be available this week." Huge loss for the . Not good.

McCarthy said he doesn't know the specifics of how long Perry will take to heal. Perry wants to play but won't be evaluated until Monday.

T.J. Lang is starting to move better in the rehab phase. McCarthy said he and JC Tretter will get a bit of work in practice today.

Clay Matthews will not practice today or tomorrow. They will reassess his status on Saturday, the team's final session of the week.

Aaron Rodgers will be limited today in practice and they'll see where he's at tomorrow.

"Significant hand injury" in MM speak likely means done for the season unless something very unexpected occurs. Sucks for Perry. I'd imagine best case scenario would be back for the playoffs
