Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones recently opened up about growing up homeless and how his past informs his generous spirit today.

Jones told reporters Wednesday he was "homeless from coming out of the hospital until I was a freshman in high school." Now, the NFL star is enjoying a successful career with the Super Bowl-bound Packers, but he hasn't forgotten the struggles of his early life -- and he's doing what he can to help children in need.

Now, the pro athlete uses celebrity and ample salary to support the poor. Jones enjoys sharing his story with families at a local homeless shelter.

To consolidate his charitable efforts, Jones started a foundation to offer help to children in Jones' hometown San Jose, Calif. and his current city, Green Bay, Wisc. The organization partners with other nonprofits to support education, housing and other programs for poor and homeless youth.

He also recently auctioned off NFL Championship tickets to raise money to feed the needy.

Good stuff.

I'd really like to see JJ do some off season training with Greg Jennings and Larry Fitgerald. They both train together in the off season with some of the leagues best DB's. For someone like Jennings, it's obviously paid off.

Doing that work plus the other training he's done has made Jennings a huge #1 WR. JJ IMO has that kind of talent and someone is going to take Drivers place sooner then later.

Jennings/Fitz gets no pay for their training. It's all on their own.

I hope JJ takes the next step. He has all the potential. He just has to put it together and he'll be a fierce weapon.
Before the Atlanta game, he called his college coach for some advice because he was tearing himself apart for dropping the pass just before the half ended vs. Eagles.

His college coach told him, "You're not attacking the ball like you used to!"

Well just take a guess what James Jones did vs. Atlanta. That TD catch vs. Grimes was historic! He went up, caught that ball and said, "THAT's MY BALL!!" Driver also attacks the football when it's in the air.

No drops boys....NO DROPS!!
