And it's also one of the reasons that the elements and how effective the "running game" is (of which it is actually an extension of) doesn't really matter that much.

And where's the 30 page thread of teeth-knashing about the running game finishing 27th this year?

After all, 24th was the end of the world last year.

The Lion game was encouraging IMO:

1) The Lions couldn't or didn't run the ball with Pickett in there.

2) Claymaker would of put additional pressure on Stafford with Pickett in.

3) Woodson would of been in there to ... help sack QB or pick 6.

Bottom Line: Pickett and Guy opposite of CMIII(Hopefully #97) are the keys to the D stiffening up.
I wasn't quite as encouraged by the defensive performance as you were and Brad Jones is apparently getting his shot opposite Clay.

I'm afraid the defense is what it is and I'm not anticipating any real improvement this year. As long as they continue to play well in the red zone and force turnovers the team will be fine, providing the offense doesn't stumble.
This Packer defense has playmakers all over the field at every level. There is no doubt in my mind they can put together a great performance any given week. A defense that boasts the likes of Raji, Pickett, CMIII, Bishop, Woodson, Williams, Shields and Burnett can cause opposing offenses a lot of problems. The players and coaching staff is in place to get it done. We just need average performances from guys like Hawk and Peprah... and if we get anything out of the ROLB and guys like Neal or Green we are ahead of the game.
