As a huge fan of the history of the game, I actually respect the Yankess and what they bring to the game. Love em or hate them, they are always relevant. It's hard for me to get passed Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, etc. You can make the argument that the two most recognizable franchises in professional sports are the Packers and the Yankees. Although they stand for two almost completely opposite philosophical approaches.
On top of this, and don't destroy me, I'm a big Jeter fan. You can say what you want about him playing in NY, but his numbers even if you take out the championships are hard to ignore. Some people hate him and think he's a cocky prick, but I think he's been a stand up player and person, especially playing in NY. Yeah I know about the women. I can't help to think with NY coming to town, that while I will be going to a game it two, that I will be cheering for the Brewers, but also giving Jeter his due respect in his last season (yeah I might clap for him), and think it's overall cool to be able to see the Yankees in town again.
Start the onslaught.
