Did Favre get the Jets Head Coach fired the year he played there?
@Fandame posted:Saleh wasn't a great coach, but part of that was his own making. Just like we all complained about what we perceived as Rodgers walking all over MLF, Saleh let him do the same to him. If Rodgers retires after this year, the Jets become better by subtraction.
Some dudes just make really good coordinators and the HC thing doesn't work for them. I think with Saleh, once Rodgers arrived, he was in a no-win situation IF the offense failed. Which it did.
There was no way Saleh was going to stick his head into anything Rodgers or Hackett were doing that Saleh felt should be different or change. Not happening.
At this stage of AR's career, he will run the offense the way he feels like it. And the sad thing is, he can't face that his way doesn't work in today's NFL.
new factory of sadness
@jjones9: New at @NFLonCBS: Ousted Jets head coach Robert Saleh was considering firing OC Nathaniel Hackett before he himself was fired Tuesday morning

This is probably the real reason Saleh got fired. I was a him or me moment, and the owner chose Rodgers side. Saleh had to know this was the case and wanted to either show he was really in charge or be put out of his misery.

At least they won’t be able to blame Saleh when the Jets season fails miserably. There’s no question who’s running the team now.
The Jets have scored 26 points over the last two games and they fired the guy who everybody knows has nothing to do with the offense.
Let's see if the defense regresses without Saleh

Interesting watching them dance around things they know but can't talk about.
What I don't get is if Rodgers had a hard-on for Saleh, they've had over a year to work it out. But it all comes to a head 5 games into this season?
I hate it for Saleh because it sucks to get fired for 'reasons' that are way beyond his control, but he has some responsibility for putting himself in that position.
Live and learn.
Reporting out there that Saleh relieved Hackett of his play-calling duties prior to his firing (no indication the two are related in the report).
Saleh may be a good defensive coach, but he’s a complete meathead and that usually doesn’t work as a head coach.
Results matter. He wasn’t good in that department.
I called it on Sunday. He wasn’t going to make it through the week.
If I was a coach who has been a HC and wants another chance or a coach who wants to become a HC would you answer your phone if a NY/NJ area code call came in? I think I would let that go to voicemail and ignore it.
And Mike McCarthy
The signs were there. This offense was designed to look like offenses 10, 20+ years ago.

It was the stated goal. We don’t have to guess who wanted it. The QB/OC told us. pic.twitter.com/OYW0FI9rRI
In GB, defenses could practically call the plays Rodgers ran. Then with his propensity to throw only to guys he likes (Adams) or run a guy (Jones) now and then, the offense was easy to stymie.
"Back to the future" is an oxymoron that rarely -- if ever -- works out in the NFL.
MLF with a veiled shot at Woody Johnson and his ilk
@WesHod: Matt LaFleur on Robert Saleh: "Robert, in my eyes, is one of the best at what he does. It's disappointing, me as his friend, I think he's done a lot of good things there but it is what it is. ... It's part of our business but it makes you appreciative of what we have with the Green Bay #Packers."
You would have to be crazy to accept a head coaching gig in a place like Carolina or Cleveland or NYJ or Dallas. Lots of meddling owners to deal with.
My god the jets make the “factory of sadness” look like a compentant franchise.
No....I'd walk in and explain exactly how things need to be with me in charge. If that's not acceptable, good luck finding your 'yes man'
It's pretty simple but you have massive Billionaire egos to deal with.
There are 32 NFL head coaching in the world. Dave Canales was an up-and-comer and said “yes” to Carolina.
Salah getting fired also adds instability to the end of Rodgers’ career and close to his last chance at another ring, not exactly something he likely wanted.
I kind like the idea of getting paid for 5 years, or whatever it was, and only having to work a few of them.
As for meddling owners, that's better than meddling kids. You can't get away with anything with them.
Honestly though who would take the Jets job? The only guy that could make it work is a person like Parcells or Belichek- someone with a ton of cache and pretty much unchecked power and authority that could tell Woody Johnson to fuck off and leave them alone to run the team.
The problem with the Jets is they are in this “win now” mode with an aging QB, a mediocre OL, and lots of overrated and underutilized players. A good head coach may be able to inspire and motivate those guys, but Rodgers isn’t changing and they have a few important holes to fill on that roster.
In a way it’s a lot like Cleveland. The difference is the Browns are tanking and probably will end up with a top 3 pick so they could go out and get a franchise QB for the future in the draft. The Jets will likely be a 7-8 win team - good enough to compete (sort of), but bad enough not to make the playoffs and hence will end up with middle draft positioning.
Not that it hasn't been said before, but roster building and coaching decisions predicated on one player's demands, is not going to work.
The jets have put themselves in a terrible situation and it's their own fault.
What I find so hypocritical is that Rodgers portrays himself as some type of renaissance man that is willing to learn and try new things in order to progress and become a better person. But when it comes to football he's only interested in doing things and working with people that he is comfortable with.
The comments about seeing a bad team in joint practice are interesting.
The last time Rodgers had this much of a heavy hand in the design of the offense was in 2018 when Mike McCarthy was fired. This Jets offense look like it’s going down the same path. pic.twitter.com/03DXe3dyCg

What minute mark? I'm limited in time to watch, but it sounds interesting. (I really need to retire!)
I'm retired now so it doesn't matter, but my goal while working, (inspired by Lindy Infante) was to be so inept that my bosses paid me to stay the hell away.

I wish! But I'm a teacher... we're kinda in demand right now so it would take a massive mistake before I was paid to stay away.
