When the news broke that JL may be staying I think most people would have said that’s a surprise move.  Him leaving now shouldn’t be much of a surprise especially if he would have ended up sharing duties with the new DC.

It’s a clean break for both JL and the program and honestly it’s better for JL if he truly has aspirations to run a team as HC.

Don't do it Jim. Not Purdont.

The timing would fit. Last week, it was reported by writers that have pretty good sources within the Badgers program that Leonhard was likely coming back in come capacity to run/co-run the defense.

On Monday, Satterfield announces he is leaving Louisville to go to Cincinnati and then on Tuesday Brohm is announced as going to Louisville from Purdue. News of Leonhard not returning to Wisconsin coincides with the Purdue head job opening up.

Is Jim Leonhard Kevin Bacon?

In terms of being 6 degrees separated from almost everyone in college and pro football (10 years in the NFL on the Bills, Ravens, Jets, Broncos, and Browns provide a lot of networking connections).

It is possible that the outcome of all this will be that the head coaches of Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Purdue, and Louisville next season will be the same 4 guys that were head coaches there two weeks ago, just all at different schools.

Leonard not going to Purdon't at least as head coach. They have named Illinois Def co-ordinater  Ryan Walters  as head coach.
