You would think - especially if McCarthy's still the coach. I remember reading that the two were very tight.
A shocker: The #Chiefs and GM John Dorsey have agreed to part ways.

Come on home buddy!
That's odd. I wonder what the real story it? Did he have an affair with Hunt's wife or something?
Andy Reid wants more power? Apparently, he just signed a contract extension.
We know Hunt didn't give Andy five minutes to make a decision. Andy never met a clock he got along with.

Andy - How did that work out for you in Philly when you made the power grab?
KC has definitely been on the upswing since both Dorsey and Reid got there. I think their only hope to get a notch better than they have been is for Mahommes to turn out to be a step above Alex Smith. I think that's possible in a couple of years, but he's probably not better than Smith now.
Andy will eff it all up in the playoffs. It's his gift. Worst coach I've ever seen manage a play clock. He coaches like the game clock is more of a subjective guideline than an official representation of time remaining.
Andy hasn't been the same since he lost Jim Johnson.
That is some stupid **** on KC's part. I gotta think there's another team who would put him in as GM pretty fast next year.
This. Dorsey won't be out of work long.
As long as that team isn't Chicago.
Well I can tell you that Denver fans are pretty excited about this move. Never good when you're biggest rival applauds any of your moves. I did the same to the Bears when they fired Lovie.
Very odd move and definitely not planned by the Chiefs. They let their #2 guy go to the Colts to be their GM which doesn't happen if they were planning to part ways with Dorsey. These type of power moves rarely work out, so have to wonder what Reid is thinking.
Are the Chiefs consulting with the Chargers? What a mind blowing decision. Stoopid!!
Yo Schneids- we will gladly take you back.
Jeremy Maclin raised a small stink that Dorsey left him a voicemail that he was being cut. There is no way Hunt let's Dorsey cut Macklin and then fires him a week later. Sounds like Hunt and probably Reid asked Dorsey to carry out the dirty work knowing he was gone and Dorsey didn't give two ****s about how Macklin was informed.
There was a rumor floating around earlier this year Dorsey declined to talk about contract extensions that didn't have an out clause and the Chiefs were not inclined to acquiesce, but I don't know how accurate that was.
There are a lot of ways to slice & dice this without any real behind the scenes information. But I like CHILLIJON's take.
Dorsey has a verbal agreement from 1265 that he will be next in line when TT steps down after 2017. Chiefs wanted him to commit to a multi-year deal with no out clause and Dorsey wouldn't do it.
I totally just made that up.
However, plausible in some other cases.
I think "granny" Lou Holtz had a clause in his contract if Notre Dame came calling to him. But I thought there was another college coach somewhere else that had an "out clause" too.
Sources: Communication, management style were factors in Chiefs’ firing of Dorsey
Some reporting out of KC about the move.
Interesting. Thanks for posting, MJoe.
Sounds like everyone agrees he's elite at talent evaluation and very professional, but probably not a great GM overall. I hope Ted can find a place for him in GB.
I'm guessing the exact same things would be said about Ted if he didn't have Ball. Great GMs need a good cap guy. Sounds like KC doesn't have a good cap guy.
That seems to be part of it with Dorsey. Also sounds like he just likes to scout.
Wait, that sounds like Thompson too.
All we need now is for Reggie to get fired and Pete Carroll to throw Schneids out a window or something. They all come home, throw in McCloughan too.
Sets up one heck of a cage match for the best GM job in sports.
Just the way Ted planned it, by the way.
Could be true. Ted ain't saying anything.
HUNGRY5 - GMs that scout - what a concept. At least they do it. The way some GMs approach the draft, they probably went down to local magazine store and picked up a football magazine with a draft section in it and went from there.
