He left once with Holmgren to Seattle and wanted back to WI due to family. Could be a way to get a nice salary bump. Realistically though, I would imagine Dorsey and Wolf are two of the hottest names out there for gm vacancies. Going to be hard to hold on to both.

That was a dozen years or so ago. He was just promoted last May. I keep hearing it's a young man's game (even in the personnel department but apparently not in the coaches). I wouldn't say his last shot, but if I'm sure spending a season watching Reggie in Oakland do what he is allowed to do wouldn't make him want to yearn to be second fiddle forever.
I don't understand why teams and coaches continue to think it's a good idea to have a the HC also assume GM responsibilities? How often has that actually worked in the last 15 years? Bill Belichick? Ego and control aside, it doesn't make sense for coaches either. When it fails, as it did in Andy Reid's situation in Philly, the coach looks really bad.

Dorsey's as good as gone.

We'll see real soon. If his wife likes it down there, it's a possibility but being the defacto GM just doesn't make sense to me
He's filled in with multiple roles and yes, cap guy was one of them. But's that hardly all his resume consists of. He was the GM of the Titans and had control over player personnel and like TT, largely believed in draft and development however Bud Adams (owner) then decided Titans needed to win now and had Reinfeldt more active in FA then he wanted to be.

In fact, one rumor going around is that the reason for his firing is that he was unable to get Peyton Manning. Reinfeldt wanted to draft/develop a QB.
If Dorsey leaves, maybe TT would bring this guy in:
McCloughan

As far as TT's successor, I would think it would either be Wolf if he's ready, or they could lure Schneider back from Seattle. Isn't he from GB originally?
I wonder if one of Ted's disciples would come back home once the job is open. I think Schneider has had the most obvious success at this point, so he's a name I wonder about specifically.

If Ted really hangs 'em up in 2015 as some predict, will Elliot have enough experience to run the league's greatest franchise yet??

Allegedly, Dorsey and Reid are very close friends according to ESPN.
Per PFT, Reid will have complete say and final word in ALL personnel decisions.

If that's true, not only should Dorsey not be interested in the GM position but frankly ANY legit GM candidate.

Really? What's the point?

Just give Reid both titles. Not like the NFL has never done it before:

First thing the new GM needs to do is get Jamaal Charles into counseling. Stat! LeSean McCoy and Brian Westbrook can tell Jamaal all about Andy and RB's.

Three words Jamaal. Learn to catch!
