The Brewers signed Donaldson to a minor league deal. His .142 BA should fit right in.

This is an outstanding signing in 2019
In all fairness he has been injured most of the year. If he can get healthy he could be a great post season addition.
From Brewers.com: The addition comes two days after Donaldson was released by the Yankees amid an injury-marred season. He is hitting just .142 with a .659 OPS in 34 games this year. He has been sidelined by a right calf strain since mid-July and won’t be eligible for activation off the 60-day IL until Sept. 15.
Prior to landing with New York in 2022, Donaldson was one baseball’s best third basemen for nearly a decade. He recorded a 139 OPS+ from 2013-21 and won the AL MVP Award while with the Blue Jays in '15. Defensively, his 18 Outs Above Average since the start of '19 ranks seventh among qualified third basemen.
The Brewers have nothing to lose with this signing. Monosterio is starting to fizzle out with the bat. He has the bat of a middle infielder at best. Maybe the Brewers catch lightning in a bottle and Donaldson adds some punch down the stretch.
In another move Detroit claimed Bennett Sousa off waivers from the Brewers. Sousa was on the 40 man roster which opens up a spot there. Could it be for Keston Huria?
I think the Santana/Canha trades ended Hiura's career in Milw. Hiura really has no defensive position and Tellez will do any DH work against RH pitching. Hiura has reverse splits and paltry numbers against lefthanders. Only one position player can be elevated so it might be someone like Toro until Donaldson is eligible.
Or they could bring up Huria until Donaldson is ready and then waive Huria. They need a spark from somebody, who knows who it could be.
But if they bring up Hiura where do they play him? The Brewer really need a boost at 3B and Hiura can't do that. I think they're better off with a guy that can PR and play defense than Hiura. After playing all season and not getting a call, while the Brewers were struggling on offense, leads me to believe the Brewers consider Hiura a triple A bat.
I believe that too. But hell, let him DH and after 2 weeks if Donaldson is ready DFA Huria and walk away permanently if he still can't hit major league pitching.
That would work but I just have a feeling the management is done with him. They released him and then when nobody picked him up they had to pay his entire $2.2 million contract. That's probably the only reason he's in the organization.
I know he missed time with injuries but the Brewers had a need for a bat while he was producing and took a pass. It's almost as if they determined he couldn't adjust to the adjustments the league made to him, and they were never going to put him on the 40 man roster again.
