SNIP-

Seems like pitchfork-waving fans were just asking Ted Thompson to sign a "petition" to bring Brett Favre back. Suddenly, Rodgers is 30 years old. He's the longest-tenured Packer. His game is not eroding in the least bit. But the fractured collarbone was a sobering reminder of what can derail any quarterback. Injuries.

Manning and Brady have started a combined 27 pro seasons. When they were supposed to wither, supposed to ease into broadcasting careers, they led their teams to the AFC Championship Game.

"When you continue to do that," Gannon said, "then you're talking about a transformational player."

So here's the catch. One reason Manning and Brady are still throwing for 40-plus touchdowns is that they don't stray from the pocket. Under the NFL's bubble-boy rules, Manning doesn't absorb nearly as much abuse as Rodgers. As a Steve Young.

Manning has stood behind a stonewall offensive line and picked defenses apart with gazelles underneath.

When does the draft start?

It is an interesting point. This year we went through what fans of about half the teams go through every few years and almost the other half wish they had a QB good enough to have a chance to go through it.

With Favre/Rodgers we got to see TWO DECADES with only one missed start due to injury. That's a wicked combination of durability and luck. The Patriots and Colts with Brady and Manning still had an entire season of Matt Cassel and Curtis Painter during their time.

It's the time of year when these goofs go from stirring the pot to flat-out trolling.  I listen to McGinn and Dunne's podcast during the season, because I hike our dogs every day and go through a lot of podcasts while doing so.  During one of them, they talked about one of McGinn's pot-stirring articles.  What was the first thing they said about it?  Not "that was controversial but honest" but instead it was "HUGE response to that piece Bob.  OVER 900 COMMENTS!"

Obviously, when the season's over, they have to really outdo themselves to get noticed.  I'm guessing some of the next few article topics could include:

1. Why Lacy will be retired in 2 years.

2. Is CMIII done because of his thumb?

3. The GBP resign Shields - they overspent and it will kill their future, OR the GBP don't resign Shields - losing him will ruin their team.

The need to generate online traffic leads many publications including the JSO to trade in journalistic integrity for unique visitors.

When it comes to Brady in particular, it's kind of hilarious to watch him if he knows he's about to get sacked, he literally will go down to the ground before the sack and protect himself almost similar to getting into the fetal position.  It looks silly, but it has helped him stay healthy the past 4 years.

When it comes to Rodgers, I give him credit as there's been a lot of times where he really took some very awkward sacks and yet came out of them just fine.  That sack that caused the collarbone injury was just one of his rare instances of bad judgement.  He scrambled right into McClellan and got into a spot where he couldn't protect himself.  The results were disastrous.

It's tricky with Rodgers as you can't ask him to totally stop scrambling as that is part of what makes him great.  There's always going to be just a little bit of a risk that he scrambles into a bad spot where he can't get down to slide in time and you just have to hope that when he does get in those bad spots, he makes it through okay.  It's always going to be something Rodgers and the Pack will have to think about with the way he plays, but considering Rodgers went more than 5 years without a serious injury, it just was kind of a fluke thing.

He exposes himself to too many hits,IMO. Watch Manning play. The guy looks like a post with the way he avoids his, but he lives to take another snap. AR is one tough son of a gun. He still goes head first into LBs like the TD run against the 49ers. I wish he would quit that.
