Yes, I'm one of those few crazy season ticket holders who actually requested seats in the new south endzone expansion. I finally received a letter yesterday informing me that I will have new seats for the 2013 season.

Sec. 641/4th row.

I had my old seats for 17 years and saw many cool things from their unique vantage point (50 yd. line 3rd row). It's an acquired skill viewing a game from essentially field level. Still, this seemed like a good opportunity to upgrade my view.

I don't know how most people feel about the expansion. I've seen many comments on line (not all from Packers fans) decrying the design as ruining the ambience and character of Lambeau.

You knew from how open the south endzone was that they were going to expand there eventually. I just figured they would wrap another 3 levels of indoor, high-end seating around the stadium and plunk the scoreboard on top of it. Granted there is plenty of club seating/suites in the expansion, but at least the Packers also made sure there was a fair amount of general seating available to fans on the waiting list. I think that's why it ended up being so huge. A smaller expansion would have only benefited the luxury suite crowd.

Anyways, I am personally very psyched.

I wondered what the southern expansion would do to the sun for my seats in 123 about 20 rows up. It did just what I thought it would - last Sunday I didn't get any sun until about 2:45p for a noon game. I'll miss it but whatever.
The thing that bugged me more was esthetic. What used to be a largely perfect playing field for a noon game now has that big freakin' shadow covering half the field. And that shadow will only get longer as the days go by.
Oh well, that's progress...?

In section 131 2nd row we didn't get a glimmer of sun for the entire game. The shade and wind made that 45 degrees feel like 30 to me.

So were you Green or Gold Package?
Yeah, my first game at Lambeau, the NFC Championship in January '97, my seats were in on the side of the North end zone, row 4 (I think Section 110 or something), I know we were on the Packer side of the field. Missed most plays at the other end of the field, probably from hash mark to sideline on that side.

but, it was the experience that counted. Thought that might be my one and only visit to Lambeau, but have been back three or four more times since.

Section, are the new seats cheaper than the 50-yrd line seats?

$3/tic cheaper and the DSL transfers.

$8/tic cheaper now. The old seats went up $5 (to $97) since the original post.

The new seats will go up soon enough, too.
