Iโm going with horse #7 Irish jockey, or #13 a gray.
Triple photo finish. What a fun race!
Happy 150th Derby Day!
My horses came in 8 and 12. But no matter it was a thrilling race, and no horses got hurt I hope.
It's all in the timing of the head bob. Winning horse was bobbing forward, while second place horse was bobbing back. Two seconds later would've been the opposite result maybe. Don't need 5 hours of coverage though.
Watching horse racing on TV can be enjoyable, but it's that damn "fill time" between races that grinds my gears.
Incessant babbling worse that shopping channels!
When stationed near Omaha, early 80's, frequently went to the Aksarben (Nebraska spelled backwards) horse race track. Usually won enough $ for me and the wife to have a great steak dinner at one of the many fine restaurants around the Omaha area. I understand that race track has been closed for quite some time now.
Once you go SAC you never go back
I was in the sports book at the Aquarius casino in Laughlin this morning and the guy in front of me had an exacta box for the Derby pay off. Not sure how much the payoff was but it was in the thousands.
I never watch the Derby or any of the Triple Crown until all the horses can get back to the barn, so I know the winner before I see the race. I was watching the live broadcast when Ruffian broke down, and it was the worst. I was riding horses with my dad since before I could walk and then rode, trained, and showed until my middle 20s. It just destroys me to see one break down.
My Dad owned a starting gate for harness racing when I was young and I used to ride along with him during the races. There was a pretty bad accident during one of the races and several horses went down. One of them couldnโt get back up so they had to get a truck, drag him off of the track and put him down.
Definitely not something my ten year old eyes were ready to see.
Kristi's truck, I'm guessing?
