Defense

1 - keep containment! Give him 5 up the gut all day, they will lose patience.
2 - Keep Ponder in the pocket with disciplined pressure.
3 - No more zone coverage.. I dont care if the situation calls for it, our corners are man conrers.
4 - Let Wood loose.. Trust your coners on the island and let wood take Rudolph away and preassure.. Rudolph is Ponders guy, take him away and he turns it over.

Offense.

1 - Barclay has to play better. If he doesn't, screen and chip to that side to slow down Robison and Griffen.
2 - No drops.
3 - No injuries.

I have this weird confident calm before the game.

1) I know who the better team is
2) I know if said better team plays their game, they will not lose

If the Packers lose, I'll shrug my shoulders, shake my head & say, "Huh, guess I was wrong about the 2012 Green Bay Packers."

Ok....Stupid, obvious stuff first...

No...

Turnovers, Injuries, drops, stupid penalties (You listening Tramon?), etc.

  • Jump on them early. Let's get a 10-14 point lead quickly. Pass to setup the run
  • Maintain ball & control clock. Vikings defense can be run on
  • Controlling the clock keeps Petersen on the sideline
  • On defense, gang tackle & wrap up Petersen forcing them into 3rd & long
  • Get to Ponder. No more zone crap & GET SOME TURNOVERS!!
  • Rodgers needs to engineer long drives & wear out the defense

If all these things happen for the Packers, it won't even be close.
It would be nice to come out of the gates and get an early lead on these jokers. If DuJuan Harris isn't getting all the touches MM needs to have his head examined. That little guy is at this point the best RB on the team.

Rodgers is going to need to hit those inevitable wide open deep passes too.

Rudolph and Felton have definitely earned my respect this year. They need to do a much better job in their one on one battles against these two.

Crosby still has a ton of pressure on him. If he can make his kicks this game he can start to put the shakes behind him I think.
To me it's all about field position. Don't let the Vikings pin us deep. When they do that they get real fired up and get a big play; fumble for a TD or pick 6. And when we get into red zone we must get a TD, no FG.

As for Minny field position when if they get into red zone, no TDs but force FG attempts.
We now have 2 X-Factors, Harris and Cobb ...

you could screen all day long to those 2 and it would be a mismatch with Minny LBers, would luv to see more of this.

Like was said above, pass to set up the run.
I was impressed with the downfield blocking last week. In particular, Jones and Finley were exceptional IMO. With that, I want to see a good dose of screens to Harris, Cobb and Jennings. Screens for big chunks of yards are back-breakers to a defense and GB can utilize them for success at will on Saturday.
Get up early on this team. The 2012 Packers have been slow starters out of the gate. If GB can score on it's opening drive and then step on the gas, it's one key way to minimize AP.

Make this a one demensional game and force Ponder to win this game.
Packers went up 10-0 in the game at Lambeau and then allowed the Vikes to take the lead at halftime. AP will get his yards but the defense simply can't allow Ponder to be all-world again and has to do a much better job on third and longs.
How many wide receivers can you easily name on other teams? One? Two? I've asked many friends who are fans of other teams to name the receivers that are on our team and they can easily name four and some five! Why? BECAUSE THEY'RE FREAKIN GOOD!!!! Bottomline: Trust your receivers and PASS TFB!!!! Insert just enough runs to either keep the queens honest or catch them off guard; OR, even MIX IT UP!!!! Do not get too freakin predictable. How 'bout starting the game off with a statement pass, instead of the typical run up the freaking middle for 1 or 2 yds?

Until I see otherwise, I believe AP will do his thing and I am not convinced that a rusty Woodson will make the D any better (HOPE I'AM WRONG!!!). Our offense will need to win this game.

GO PACK!!!!!
I don't care if Peterson averages 4 or even 5 yards/carry, as long as he doesn't rip off a bunch of 20+ yard runs. Those were the back breakers. In the 2 games they played he had 10 runs of 20 or more yards...GB had 3 total in every other game. Without those 10 runs by Peterson the Packers would be tops in the NFL. Included in that stat is 2 40+ yard runs, GB's only 2 of the season. The Packers had a stout run D against the rest of the league (4.0 avg. against the rest of our schedule), they just let Peterson rip off too many big runs.

You can't stop Adrian Peterson, but a disciplined defense can limit his big plays. CBs have to be willing, OLBs can't get sucked inside, and ILBs have to shed OLinemen and get there. You can't win a shootout with Aaron Rodgers with a RB averaging 4 yards per carry, you can with a RB averaging 10 yards per carry who rips off 40+ yard runs, but not 4 yards/carry. Ponder is a guy who will complement a great running game, but he can't win a game on his own.

On offense they have to chew up the clock and not turn the ball over. Not earth shattering analysis, but it's what they have to do. The best way to limit Adrian Peterson is to not have him on the field. They need to get their running game some confidence, take the short throws, and very methodically work down the field.

The thing the haven't been doing is throwing the ball to the RB to open the game. I would like to see that to start. If they can run the ball some and mix in short passes, I think that will lead to more success initially. Open things up later in the game, but run dink and dunk to start.
Packers need to come out tomorrow and play the game they are capable of playing. On both sides of the ball.

If Minny gets the ball first. Stop them
If Green Bay gets it first. Score.

Repeat.
Two scenarios:

1. Win Coin toss, Defer:
A. Stop them.
1. Three and out.
a. Punt and good field position.
b. Punt return for touchdown.
B. Turnover.
a. Pick-6
b. Sack fumble.
c. Misc. fumble.
d. Pick.
C. Give up a 1st down or so then punt.
2. Offence first (they defer)
a. Touchdown - Gerg
b. Touchdown - Jordy
c. Touchdown - Cobb
d. Touchdown - James
e. Touchdown - Harris
f. Touchdown - Rodgers (melt belt)
3. Dominate.

Sure, I left out a few other options for item 2. But I got bored of typing.
