Khris Middleton

The best path for Middleton would be to sign the extension.  As I understand it, the Bucks couldn’t extend him for less money per season than his player option and in theory could earn up to about 200M in total.  

Middleton’s style of play should age well but you would have to start to worry a bit about his health now than he’s on the other side of 30.

top 5? right now I might put Big Dog and Redd up there first. Stats wise they both have many more career points in significantly less games played. If youre giving bonus points for helping to bring home a championship then i can see it

Dandridge too as he is a HOF. Maybe Allen as well? Interesting list to be sure.

Middleton is a much better player than Big Dog. Michael Redd put up big stats on mediocre teams.

Here's the Allen and Middleton per-game comparison for their Bucks years.

Allen. 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.4 turnovers. 45.0/40.6/87.9 shooting splits.

Middleton 17.6, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.1 turnovers. 45.9/39.3/88.1

Note that Big Dog's shooting splits were 45.9/34.0/81.2

Allen played 7 seasons in Milwaukee, Middleton is in his 10th.

Allen played 36 playoff games as a Buck and had 3 games over 30 points.

Middleton has played 67 playoff games as a Buck and has 9 games over 30 points.  

Allen is a HOFer but a lot of that was based on what he did after he was traded away. However, Middleton has been just as good as a Buck. Middleton is also a much better defensive player than Allen and it isn't even close. Middleton has actually shot better overall from the floor

I think Middleton might already be #5 all-time.

Middleton frustrates many of us with some of the dud games he's had, but he has this knack of starting a game shooting like 3 for his first 13 and then coming alive in the 4th quarter and ending up shooting like 8 for 19 for the game. He might also be the only non-HOFer to ever score 40 in an NBA Finals game.

Almost every one of these other guys is in the HOF or a future first-ballot guy. The exceptions are Middleton, Butler, and Booker.

We all underrate Middleton.

It’s easy to forget how good of a player Robinson was.  The guy shot 48% from 2 and had a phenomenal mid range game.  If he were playing today he may have been a 25-30PPG scorer given how the rules favor offensive players.  He was also a decent rebounder.

Middleton’s value is enhanced because he’s a true 3 and D guy.   In the playoffs he’s much more valuable.

Had Ray Allen played alongside Giannis he may have shot 50% from 3.  Lots of open looks.
