Good stuff.

Zimmer is out of his mind if he does this Sunday:

No matter what personnel the offense puts on the field, Zimmer has two major tendencies. First, he likes to play tight man-to-man coverage with his defensive backs.

See the Texans game last year for an example.  IIRC, no one has even tried to play exclusive man-press on GB since that game, and for good reason.

This could be trouble, though:

Second, when he brings pressure, he likes to bring it up the middle with his linebackers.

That probably means that Kuhn needs to be ready to go, as he'll be the guy taking a beating behind EDS.  Otherwise you may see more Quarless in the backfield to counter that middle blitz.

Interesting chess match, and good article.

tough one to call. I dont want to see another Boldin performance with AJGreen

Cincy looked bad last night IMO against a terrible Steelers team. Pitt shouldve had 2 more tds, but it was a division rivalry

Bengals lead all time series 6-5 and have won the last 2. Last meeting was a 31-24 win in GB in 2009. That was the game OchoCinco said he would do a Lambeau Leap after scoring. He did score but faked the leap. WE recovered an onside kick but Jennings was called for a false start which ended the game at the Cincy 10.

I think a def stand holds them off 24-20 Pack

AJ Green gets "his" with two, long, first-half TDs against the safeties in zone, Capers adjusts by Tramon or Shields matching up on him whichever side he starts on holding him to a very quiet second half.

Starks plays well again, racking up 90 yards and a score, while Rodgers throws two TDs. The Packers get in a little trickery and score on a fake punt as well as get a Return TD.

Packers 38 - Bengals 27

Tough game to call. We lose a tough one to SF despite almost being doubled up on TOP, and then SF gets totally overwhelmed in Seattle. We whomp on Washington, which also lost badly to Philly which lost to the Chargers. So, are we really any good?

Cincy loses to the Bears, then gets by a really bad Steelers team. Is Cincy good, bad, average?

In the end, it's 30-24 GB, provided we button down the middle of the field on defense.

Cincy probably should have beaten the Bears but had some dumb mistakes near the end that cost them the game.

Dalton hasn't looked particularly good so far this season, but I agree with some of the comments that their TEs and AJ Green are a real concern given how the Packers have looked covering the middle of the field.

The other factor is that their front seven is pretty damn good and very stout up the middle and that's where our OL has struggled.

Should be a good game but it's all dependent on how well the OL plays.  If they give Rodgers time I think he can make some big plays against a secondary that plays a lot of man coverage.  If the Bengals can pressure Rodgers consistently I think they can and will beat GB.

I think this is a "pick em" game so I'm being a homer

Packers 24 Bengals 20

The biggest issue is Geno Atkins vs. EDS. That is a mismatch of epic proportions. Hopefully they double him all game long with TJ Lang and/or Sitton

In Game 1 vs. Niners I was thinking blowout....(nope, Thought Burnett would play though)

In Game 2 vs. Redskins I thought blowout....(yup)

In Game 3 vs. Bengals......

Guess I just have G&G goggles on....

Bengals who did not practice today:

CB - Dre Kirkpatrick - hammy  (must have done his off-season work with the Packers staff)

CB - Adam Jones - unknown

CB - Brandon Ghee - consussion (did not play vs PIT)

G - Mike Pollak - knee (did not play vs PIT)

Remember when cornerback was a mountain of depth for the Bengals? On Wednesday three of their five corners on the week's depth chart didn't practice with Brandon Ghee (concussion) continuing to be out and Dre Kirkpatrick shelved with the hamstring issue that took him out of Monday night's fourth quarter. Plus, third corner Adam Jones, who played 49 of Monday's 55 snaps, was also out with an unknown malady.

Can CIN banged up secondary hang with Packers WRs?

“They broke a lot of tackles last week. They’re not a big, deep-throwing team, but they throw it short and catch it and run like crazy,” (CIN DC Mike) Zimmer said. “The receivers all do a great job blocking. They all run very precise routes.”

DB Leon Hall on Rodgers:

“You see it week in and week out. He’s got a strong arm. He runs really well and throws it well on the run. When he’s running with the ball he’s probably more accurate than he is standing in the pocket,” Hall said.“He can throw a 60-yard dart down the field going to his left. The guy is pretty amazing, especially with some of the throws he makes. I don’t see that anywhere else in the NFL.”

Still trying to figure out why many fans/media are so high on this bengals squad...

Was it the 4 straight playoff losses ? Was it scoring 13 freaking points in the playoffs vs the Texans ( a team the Packers put up 42 on in their home dome)

Perhaps it was their amazing run through 2-14 KC, inept San Diego, 4-12 Oakland and 4-12 Philly last season ? Or maybe it was the loss to the ****ing Browns.

I don't see a signature win, I don't see a playoff win, I don't see them doing jack diddly squat. Yet fans and media have them in the Super Bowl ? WOW

Last game of the season, they barely squeaked by the Ravens who were resting their starters , played some guy named Tyrod Taylor at QB and still put up over 200 yards rushing on the vaunted Bengals defense.

In the opener, when the Ravens were at full strength, they destroyed Cin 44-13.

The bengals are a 9-7 / 10-6 team, one & done in the playoffs. What is it that y'all are seeing to put them in this lofty perch of being a Super Bowl contender ?

They lost to the ****ing bears in the opener for cripes sake...
