This is going to be the week where Atlanta doesn't get out to a 20 point lead.

They will score early and take a small lead but the beast that is the Packer offense will leave Opie sitting on the bench once again and pile up way too many points for the Falcons to deal with.

Packers 48 - Falcons 27. Getting closer to the 50 burger. MVS drops a TD that would have put them over.

Rodgers is unspectacular as O-line is porous.

The Wrs can't get open and have a couple of drops.

MLF can't figure out which RB to use and how often.

Defense struggles to stop the Vike's Lion's Saint's Falcon's rushing attack.

MLB continues to be a problem.

Opie gets carded trying to get to locker room before the game

Packers still win because....well, they're playing the Vikings Lions Saints Falcons.

perhaps

I’m thinking Packers sit Adams and Clark again.

Falcons will do what everyone knows they should and pound the rock with Gurley.    I think this time we stop playing dime and 6 LB packages on early downs.   I also think Summers May be an improvement over Kirksey too.  We show better and get Falcons into some 3rd n longs which creates more chances for the guys we expect to make plays to show up.   Z gets 2 sacks and Ryan throws 2 picks.

On offense we continue to feature the TE without Adams and Big Bad Bobby T goes off for 100 and a TD.   It’s just another week of long sustained drives leading to 37 points or more.

37-20 Pack

Packers continue with our TE threat and all three TEs contribute in big ways. Tonyan gets 2 TDs in the Red Zone, Sternberger makes two big catches for us to move the chains and Lewis makes a decisive block on two Falcons to spring Aaron Jones for a long TD run. Jones gets another TD on  a pass from ARod in the left corner of the end zone. Lazard burns his Falcon defender up the middle for a 45 yard TD, on a dart, from ARod. Packers 35 Falcons 17.

Since Lazard is now out for the season, after surgery, for a core injury, I'll switch his TD over to MVS.

Lazard is NOT out for the season. Everything thus far has stated out indefinitely.

Based on previous injuries like this, I would be shocked if it's less than 6 weeks...

"In 2018, Allison missed 11 games after core muscle surgery. Tight end Robert Tonyan suffered a core muscle injury last season, played through it while never returning to full health, and needed surgery in the offseason. Randall missed five games in 2016 after having surgery. Jennings missed seven games in 2012. missing one game immediately after suffering the injury and then had surgery after trying to play through it for two games."

The only guy I’ve ever heard having “core muscle surgery” before was Steven Stamkos of the Lightning (maybe the procedure was called something else), and he couldn’t go in the Stanley Cup Finals after a 7 month layoff.

I don’t know where Allen’s injury is, the severity of it, snd the prognosis. Lots of muscles all over an athlete’s body, and football and hockey players require different things from their bodies. I hope it’s just 6-8 weeks.

As for the game, this is Jace Sternberger’s coming out game. He caught three passes last week, and I think Aaron starts developing some rapport/confidence with him.

MLF wants to run the ball and use tight ends-here’s his chance.

31-17 Green Bay.

It sucks because Lazard really fit this offense very well and was being put to maximum use in it.  If you're playing in a Mike McCarthy system where the WR's main job was just to run a pattern and hope you get open, I don't think Lazard would have been as effective.

In this system, his physical nature came in handy for blocking and maximizing the run game, that part of his game will be missed.  He was good at those chain moving bubble screens too.  He seems to have better playing instincts than MVS even though he is not as gifted in terms of speed.  Substituting Sheppard or someone else for Lazard looks like a huge downgrade the way Lazard was playing.

Edit:  In terms of a prediction for the game, I'll say Pack 34 - Birdies 31.  I think it will feel like a trip to the dentist as the Pack will not take control until the bitter end, but they'll win.
