LeBron James, who has been active in the US in terms of supporting Kaepernick, the right to peaceful protest, Black Lives Matter, etc. had the stupidity to criticize Daryl Morey for being "uneducated" about China because Morey supported the protestors in Hong Kong.
I admired LeBron before for his willingness to have opinions. I am a liberal Democrat, but I respect any athlete willing to voice their well-informed opinions on other matters. For example, I don't agree with Tim Tebow on a lot, but I respect his convictions.
LeBron just showed what he's really made of. He's all for free speech until it might cost him some money. He already has enough money to pay for his great-great grandkids to go to college in 60 years, but he must need more. Nike must be the one "educating" him.
His "uneducated" comment about Morey is one the dumbest I've ever heard. Daryl Morey has a MBA from the MIT Sloan Business school. He has probably thought more about international economics in an average day than LeBron has in his entire life. A guy like LeBron who never went to college and was reported to have an SAT score of 870 (about an 11 on the ACT) is the last guy that should ever call someone else uneducated. It's not like he's got the intellect of Shane Battier or Malcolm Brogdon. Assuming he didn't blow off the test (which is possible), an SAT of 870 probably suggests he reads at about an 8th grade level.
What should his new nickname be? LeFraud? LeBron Shames?
