Would Jax want to do that?
Hell, I'll even throw in James Starks just to make it fair.

who cares about Jax. THE question is would you?
I have to think that ain't a bad deal if Drew can come back healthy (admit, I don't know much about his health).
I guess the question is does the Pack think they have something in Sherrod...
Wonder where and why he came up with this concoction. Even tho Jax is a terrible team at the moment, I have the think their fans wouldn't think that is enough.
I've been of the mind you don't pay much for RBs but three years isn't that bad for someone who is 27.
Any word on what he has been asking for?

Part of the idea is that you pay less for someone who wants out. The threat is that he holds out. Jax is trying to improve their product to facilitate the LA move- and MJD wants an extension.
But it would certainly go against Thompson's history to even suggest he would do this. To make a massive big investment in a RB would be counter to everything. But McCarthy did promise he run game was going to be a big part of 2013... Does he know something? Hmmmm...

Well if he does know something...
Sounds like a crazy deal to me, but I would add in Starks or something too. I love MJD and it would be fun to see how his presence adds to our O.
Besides, jax is good at taking our damaged goods.

Missed that in the local rag.
You have some insider stuff?
Makes it sound like Sherrod is done. Those early picks just don't work out sometimes. But, this year...
Throw in Hawk to them and its a done deal.

You say this a lot.
Not the first time Butler has said something silly, won't be the last. A great analyst he is not.

Yes I do and the NFL isn't going to put a 2nd rate franchise from floriduh into their number 2 market. Same reason the purple losers were never a serious consideration. J-ville needs to get better just to keep its franchise
LA fans are the weakest...so its down to the used-to-be LA Chargers or the used- to- be- LA Rams at this point
(and maybe both)
Owners would like to have the west coast version of the NYG/NYJ sharing a Palace in LA
(both AFC and NFC represented = max cash)
And a game every weekend.
Interesting comments, Satori.
There was some 'stink' a few weeks back by our local media; the Falcons and local government are pushing hard for a new stadium here to replace the GA Dome.
Arthur Blank hinted that the LA folks were hot to get a team like the Falcons, and he wasn't opposed to the idea.
It was surprising (to me, anyway) since we normally think of the down-trodden franchises as the ones ripest for relocation. It now seems this could lend some creedence to your comments.

And pass on MJD, please.
GB (and us fans) need to get away from taking a chance on a talented, but aging and/or injured players. The whole point to me is to make a move if it upgrades the position. It's hard to argue MJD wouldn't instantly become the best RB on our roster, but the risk of injury or breakdown of skills far outweighs any benefit.
Add the past history of his contract extension snafus wouldn't bode well for negotiations, and it further sinks the deal.
We came close to hitting one out of the park with Benson, but my guess is his fuse has fizzled, and the numbers game is always going to be against him.
Incidentally, does this remmind anyone else of our RB situation of the 80's and early 90's? We had a steady diet of "the next greatest thing" every year, and none would ever pan out. While other teams had Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, or Emmitt Smith, we had...Vince Workman or Darrell Thompson. Ugh!
Lastly, any trade would require Sherrod to pass a physical, and I'll bet a dollar he can't. If he's not good to go by TC, it may be time to consider an injury waiver (depending on cap ramifications), unless the team doesn't mind keeping him on IR for whatever reason.

A 3rd round pick? A conditional 7th at best without Sherrod.
Jones Drew is a very good back but he's taken a lot of hits and carries over the last few years and you wonder if last season was a sign of more things to come (injuries)?
I think the subject line of the thread says it all.
I don't want MJD either. But it's funny to see what an insane tweet by Leroy can generate.

The NFL would move a franchise from Poskin, WI to LA. A franchise is a franchise.
The NFL would be wise to get out of JAX.
As far as Jones goes, I just saw he has 2 years left on his deal...I realize he held out for a better deal but I wonder if a "contender" would entice him a bit with an opportunity to negotiate.
Like someone, said ain't happenin' no matter if a crazy offer like a conditional 7th is offered or two number ones a second and a fourth...
Not yet... funny, there's a money problem. Who'da thunk?

The NFL has not played a game in Los Angeles since 1994 and the league will not return to the second largest city and television market in the United States before 2014.
What a set of balls by Blank to come hat in hand to the government in the current economic climate and ask for a new stadium. Guy is worth over a billion dollars and the only thing wrong with that stadium is he can't game the NFL revenue system with the current one to stuff ever more dollars in his pockets and wants the people of Atlanta to pay for it? These people have no shame and should be told to pound sand.quote:Originally posted by Timmy!:

It's sad, tit', but probably not much different than what any other team/city has done in recent years.
IIRC, the initial proposal was for a $1B stadium, with the Falcons/NFL covering $600M, and the city covering $400M. After some initial outcry, Blank 'agreed' to a 700/300 deal, and this was followed shortly by the relocation story.
Here, and I would suspect everywhere else new stadiums have been built, once the pipelines to graft and corruption are in place, the deal will happen, construction will start, and the inevitable "cost overruns" will occur.
But no doubt it will be built, IMO.

C'boy, I didn't mean to imply that Benson was the next coming of Jim Taylor; rather, that the Packers had hit on a FA acquisition that wasn't a "bust".

Wes Hodkiewicz@WesHod
Chatted with #Packers Hall of Fame fullback Jim Taylor this morning. At 77, Taylor said he still runs about 40-50 miles a week #wowza
Benson might be smoking 40-50 oxygen/weed bongs a week @ 77. That's pretty much where the comparisons end.
Life's like a box of chocolates...
Speaking of Forrest... there's no way Forrest enlists in the Army after an All American campaign at Alabama. He's going early in round 1 to the Saints or the Falcons to fill seats and Lt Dan and Buford Blue never make it home and spare everyone from really bad food at Bubba Gumps Shrimp Co. Jenny hooks up with Forrest long before she becomes a walking petri dish and lives to the age of 87 and little Forrest leaches off Mom and Dad well into his 30's until the effects of his Dad's football concussions force him to open a diner in Jackson Mississippi.
I can't get past the 90 minute mark of that movie. I just can't.

After the Rams move back to Los Angeles in a couple years, the Jaguars will soon be heading out to St. Louis (the owner's home town) to take up residence in a renovated Edward Jones Dome. Giving Jacksonville a franchise was one of the goofiest things the NFL has ever done, especially when you consider that Baltimore and St. Louis were without teams at the time.quote:Originally posted by chickenboy:quote:Originally posted by Satori:

I thought he was from Pakistan?
Apparently you didn't know Pakistan is right next to Edwardsville.
