Don't look now, but after losing to Philly the Bucks are now 2-9.  Only the Utah Jazz have a worse record right now than Milwaukee.

So far this season has been nothing short of a disaster for the Bucks, but they need to keep their eyes on the prize (i.e. draft lottery) and figure out a way to finish either #1 or #2 or even #3.   That would give them a chance to select Wiggins, a guy that has been compared to LeBron, Parker, a guy that's drawing comparisons to Carmelo Anthony, or Randle, a silky smooth big man at UK that's rising up the draft charts.   The bottom line is that three legit prospects will be there.

In looking at the East it's clear to me that Brooklyn and New York aren't as bad as their records indicate so the competition for the bottom doesn't look too great but if there were ever a season to basically tank it's this one.   This might be one of the best drafts in quite some time with a few legit studs at the top.   Milwaukee has to find a way to get one of those guys.  While the lottery is not guaranteed, if you finish with the worst record you probably won't pick any lower than #3 so let's get it done Bucks!

DEEZ NUTS!

As I said before- this roster was assembled with one thing in mind.

What's also interesting is the number of 2nd round picks they have added. Trade up, use on an international project that you can stash in Europe, all kinds of interesting possibilities. In a deep draft like this one, the projects with long range potential will fall out of the first...

Not to rain on the parade Tshmack, but does it really matter in the long run?  So lets say the draft is not rigged and the Bucks get a top 3 pick.  Then what?  No supporting cast, and by the time they get one, said draft pick's contract is up and ops for Miami, New York, LA, etc.

The NBA is 100% geared toward the big market teams/cities and star players.  Milwaukee, Minnesota, etc. will be nothing but farm teams for the NBA elite without some sort of major shake up.

The Bucks are currently 2-12 and fading quickly.   Only Utah at 2-14 has a worse record.

The Nets and Knicks are right behind but you have to think at some point those two teams will pick up the pace.  While they aren't great teams they do have talent but I wonder about what Sheb is saying as well.   If a team was ever to tank intentionally it's this year because of Parker and Wiggins.  This might be the best NBA draft since 2005.

After watching him play, to me the top pick isn't Wiggins. Sure, gifted athlete. Great measurables. But there's something missing. He's passive. He doesn't play like he's the best player on the Floor. he's nothing remotely close Lebron.

The front runner right now has to be Parker. It'll be interesting to see who elseemerges, but I'll take Parker all day.

Fight to the cellar so far.  Bucks 4-16 and Utah is 4-18.   However, the Nets beat the Bucks Saturday which helps them because New Jersey only had like 5 or 6 wins coming into that game.

Man, there are a lot of BAD teams in the NBA this year.   The East in particular is really pathetic.  If the playoffs started today, Boston would be the 4th seed with a 9-12 record.

It looks like they might be throwing in the towel somewhat by starting to play more of the younger guys.   Personally, I think it's a great move.   Get Knight and Antetekounpo and Henson more minutes to see what they can do because from what I've seen those guys are talented.   Throw Sanders in there and that's not a bad compliment of players so if they can land a Parker or Wiggins all of a sudden the franchise looks a whole lot different.

Yes- this has to be the plan. And if Parker can play the 2G, how would a  lineup of Knight, Parker, Antetokoumpo, Henson, and Sanders look? Long and athletic. And this what made those Pistons teams that Hammibd helped assemble so good- length and athleticism at every position. Larry Drew is no Larry Brown, but the lineup is comparable.

That's why winning this lottery is so important. It will save the franchise...

Going into tonites game Bucks were .200 and Utah .250

"Sorry for Jabari"

Could things really be going much better for the Bucks?  They have the crappy record they'll need to get a high draft pick but are still competitive in many games (lots of overtime recently, though they nearly always lose).  The senator is talking about finding investors.  At least some movement towards dealing with arena issue, though long off into the future.  Young players getting lots of experience and showing some potential.  Middleton and Knight for Jennings is looking pretty good for us.  Sanders melt down not good but if he was playing we'd probably have too many wins.  Enough vets on the roster with good attitudes to mentor the young ones.

Of course, attendance sucks but you can't have it all.

the best thing that could happen is for them to tank and land one of the top picks and get a stud like Parker or Wiggins.   If you are a small market team like the Bucks no decent free agents will want to come there so the draft is the only real way to get better and they need a little luck too.  While Bogut and Big Dog were good players they need a Lebron or Durant type impact player to really elevate the franchise.   The draft next year certainly has a few of those types of prospects

Antetokounmpo has been getting some decent minutes and he is an interesting player.  They have him listed as a 2 guard - and he goes about 6'8" which is pretty interesting to see.

Brooklyn and Sacramento and Orlando won so right now the 6-23 Bucks are solely in last place in the NBA by a couple of games.   At 6-23 they have about 50 games remaining but they are well on their way.   They just don't need to get stupid and start winning games.

Philly must have finally gotten the memo they need to tank because they've been on life support the last couple of weeks.

OK so they beat up on the hapless Lakers  but are still 7-24 and at least two games up on New York and Orlando for the worst record in the league.

Why do I have this sinking feeling that the Lakers or Knicks will somehow find a way to end up with the #1 overall pick?     The Knicks have completely gone into the tank and the Lakers really aren't that far behind.   The league would love to have a young stud like Parker in one of those major markets and then a LeBron or others could follow them there.

No one heard of Embiid a year ago and he's vaulted up the draft charts big time.  If the draft were today I'm not sure he wouldn't be taken ahead of Wiggins or Parker.

I think the Bucks are much better set up at the C position than they are at the SF position.   Henson has a lot of potential and if Sanders could ever get his head out of his ass he is an effective big man.

that scenario is unlikely, because it would mean that 3 teams leapfrogged the Bucks.

I do think Buck's fans need to come to grips with the math though, with the worst record in the league, they would have the best chance a the first pick.  The odds are also in favor of the "field" getting the first pick over the Bucks.

If Wiggins, Parker, and Embiid declare..

Embiid will go number 1, you can almost take that to the bank at this point.  After watching what Giannis is doing this season, scouts and front offices will be less reluctant to pass on "unknown" quantities with huge upsides like Dante Exum as well.

Personally, I see Embiid being the best fit for the Bucks and Exum a close 2nd.

After that:  Parker, then Wiggins.  Im not a big Marcus Smart fan, but he is probably the 5th best player and not a terrible fit for Milwaukee, but if things go as planned and Milwaukee finishes the season as the worst in the NBA.. we will be picking no less than 4th.

Give me Embiid or Exum...I'll be happy.  Couple either player with Giannis.. and my gosh... that's a core worth getting really excited about.  I know most of you don't watch the NBA regularly, but Giannis is the best player in this last draft class.  His skill set has a ceiling of Top 5-10 players in the NBA.  He is legit, and at 19 there will be some growing pains, but man... I don't know if there is a player under 22 in the game I might rather have on my team than Giannis.  Maybe Anthony Davis?  That'd be about it.  I wouldn't move him for Kyrie Irving (21).

This is the best Bucks news I have heard in a LONG time.  You are essentially saying if the Bucks end up with the worst record, this core you speak of is guaranteed.

You could see it right away with Antetokoumpo... It's all there. I was really surprised the the first time I saw him with his game. It's pretty exciting, but he needs about 15-20 pounds of muscle and some seasoning and he could be for real.

Guys like Embiid always worry me- athletes are a dime a dozen in the NBA. The Bucks cannot afford to miss this pick. It has to be true franchise player, and that means the whole package. Game, athlete, intelligence, and the desire of a great one.

So Ebiid comes out of nowhere- athletic, but what about game? The rest of the package? I worry about the mind. Wiggins, too.
