Whether or not it's beneficial for the Packers to get a first round bye is debatable. That said, the Falcons will have the #1 spot locked up. The 49ers currently hold the #2 spot but they still have to go to New England and Seattle to play. GB has a very good shot at winning out and snapping up the second 1st round bye.

Indeed, one game at a time. But this injury riddled season might just end with a bang for Packer fans.

Other teams are getting banged up now. I'm not rooting for injuries by any means but the Bears have several defensive players hurting, Hill Billy Allen has a torn lambrum in his shoulder and IIRC the Lions also are dealing with injuries.

As banged up as GB is, if they can get Woodson and Matthews back for this stretch and get healthy at the right time then there isn't a team that I believe GB cannot compete with. Playing on turf indoors would be a dream for Rodgers and that offense. He excels indoors so ATL doesn't frighten me. And we may be having a budding controversy at QB in SF. Again fine by me.

Looking ahead, if the Pack can get the guys healthy and back on the field at close to 100% AND keep Rodgers upright there is no reason to think that the post season will not be long.

One caveat.....the way the Giants crushed the Pack should be a concern if they have to go there again. The Packers were dominated in all facets of that game. True, very important guys were out but say what you will, the Giants after 2 wins over the Pack will not be shaking in their cleats.

Rodgers on Bears loss: I can't say there's a lot of Seahawks fans in the locker room, but we appreciate the help.

The Packers beat the Vikings. The Bears and Lions both lose on last play of game. Good day for Green Bay.

MM on Bears loss: That's good, but it doesn't mean anything to me. We need to beat the Lions. That's where I'm at.



Sack numbers get the attention, but Clay Matthews' presence in run game is missed.

I'm just worried about the North right now..

The schedule, outside of the big Bears game, slightly favors the Packers right now.. That makes it a must win game more for the Bears than it does the Pack at this time. If the Bears win against the Pack, but lose one of those 3 road games, they would lose the division record and conf record tie breakers, as long as GB wins out.

The toughest game the Pack has is at Minn to end the season. Detroit at home Sunday should be a route as their season basically ended yesterday and they will not be up for this game. Tenn is horrible.. The Vikes will put everything they have into keeping the Pack from winning the crown because those wannabe batards think they are our rival.

Also, Packers should start getting healthy soon with Woodson, Jennings and Mathews coming back..The Bears seem to be getting hit by the bug right now, we shall see if they can get through it like the Pack has.

I agree this was a big day yesterday for GB. They are in control of their destiny again and could be in real good shape in a week or two (or it could fall apart)

Focusing and beating Detroit is key. As bad as they have played, they have a lot of talent and a couple of bounces could turn a close game.

Bears @ MN. I think people around here in Chicago are dismissing it as an easy game. I am not so sure. As bad as Ponder looked, the game is in MN, MN is looking for redemption for their embarrassment in Chicago a couple of weeks ago. The Bears D got a little banged up yesterday and they still need to stop AP

"IF" the Packers were to beat Detroit and MN beats the Bears, the Bears-Packers game the next week isn't even a must win for the Packers.

I'll try not to get my hopes up too high.

Lions were 2-10 in 2010 when they knocked Rodgers silly. Which also happened the same week in 2010 as this weekends game, week 13.

I think the Lions game is going to be a tough, physical game. I'm terrified of the Lions throwing a few cheap shots around. Would not surprise me at all to see a similar game to what happened yesterday. I dont see GB blowing anyone out until they get a little healthier.

I hope the final game in Minny is for the division title and/or a playoff bye. I don't want that game to be meaningless.

Exactly, they cannot take this game too lightly. You have to like that it is at home. If they could get Mathews back, I would feel a little bit better. I also think that MM is starting to figure out a little bit how to select and mix plays to counter teams that play cover on us. I think the Giants game woke him up.

I disagree about a meaningless game. With how beat up these guys are I would love a meaningless game and a bye. Yes, it backfired last year, but this team has been decimated by injuries.

Interesting! I doubt that they will give Webb a shot, they like Ponder, and need him to continue to develop. However, sitting AP down, is conceivable, especially the wear and tear he's taken this year and coming off an ACL.

My first thought is "screw the bye" - I think its more detrimental than beneficial as the bye to me just makes our players stale. However, this year with all the injuries may be an exception. With that said, for me, I am going to try to lower my expectations so that I do not get all that upset when they lose

we win the next 2 games and we win the division. also, with SF traveling to NE we could find ourselves in the #2 spot (if thats a good thing) with games against TEN and MIN left who will both be eliminated by week 17.
SF still has to travel to Seattle so that last game at Minnesota may not mean anything as far as seeding if we win these next 3

I don't know about you but I think the turnovers (part luck) have hidden the fact that Chicago is getting old in a hurry on D. I'd think the best they go the rest of the way is 2-2.

I'm not so sure about that. The Bears are dinged up but the Vikings have to play at Saint Louis and at Houston before the finale. He needs about what, 600 yards in four games? He's a heck of a talent but that's a pretty tall order with their schedule.

The way I see it if the Packers win out:

Any SF loss OR any TWO Falcons losses gets the Packers the #2 seed.

Any SF loss AND any TWO Falcons losses gets the Packers the #1 seed.



If MD Jennings had knocked down that hail mary pass in Seattle:

Packers would currently be the #2 seed and looking for any Falcons loss to move up to the #1 seed.

While the #1 seed is possible, is it probable?

Wk 15: ATL vs the Giants - I could see that happening.
Wk 16: ATL @DET - Suh or Fairly knocks Matty Ice out early and Megatron going nuts - maybe.
Wk 17: ATL vs TAM - TAM will be out of it...

SFO has to go to NEP and to SEA the next two weeks. #2 seed is more likely IMO.
