Looking to buy a new turntable. On-line reviews are hit or miss it seems. Any suggestions?

Love Music Hall. Great sound, rock solid and not very expensive. Are you looking for a USB one or a traditional record player?

Currently I have a very nice Marantz amp with POLK audio interconnect speakers. Don't want to cheapen the sound. With the USB I'd be going through a computer then to my amp with a modified connector which I'd have to build after a visit to radio shack. Unless I could build the USB adapter cable for my amp(?)... may have to consider that.

No no no, you definitely mean business. Stay away from the usb crap. How old is the Marantz receiver ? Good stuff Marantz. Believe it or not, now owned by the Japs. Still make nice stuff though.

The POLK interconnects are running on my Marantz pm-50, bought it in '91. I also have a Sony GX800ES pushing my speakers on the back of the house - some older Bose.

I was always a Technics guy. The only other brand I had for a while was a Dual.
I never disconnected my turntable, and I never got rid of my vinyl. I did primarily switch to CDs before the internet blew the old delivery model up, but I still hung on to them.
When I moved to GA in 1984, I drove my stereo and my albums down myself because there was no way I going to trust any mover with either.

Only Technics gear I ever owned was a 1500 reel-to-reel.
Bear in mind that Music Hall and Rega will be completely manual. They both make very good rigs, but it is nice to have auto shut off when the side is finished.
I have a Denon DP-300 turntable. It was a gift and is a fine TT but certainly below a Music Hall. If I had it to do over I personally would search e-bay for a nice vintage Dual. But that's jus me. Back inthe day I thought Dual were the coolest TT's but could never afford one.
I assume the Marantz has a phono out so you won't need an external phono pre-amp, too.
