As far as the worse behavior this time my guess would be the late Saturday start and drinking like you mentioned and also they all were buying into the "media disrespect card" and wanted to thump their chests.
Yeah, I don't get the whole home fan a$$hole syndrome.
At the 07 NFCCG, some Giant fans parked next to us at the Resch Center. We gave them some good natured ribbing, offered and had a beer with them. Saw them afterwards and wished them luck.
At the Viking game this year, two Viking fans where sitting in front of us, from St. Louis I think. Anyway, nice guys, new football, had an coherent dialogue with them during the game. No sense being a jerk to them. After the game, I ended up taking pictures for several different groups Viking fans with the field as a backdrop. Talked to two 20 somethings who had driven 6 hours for the game and they raved about the experience and how nice the fans are/were to them.
I guess I'd rather have that as opposed to Philly's or Oakland's reputation.
I am so glad for the our fans at the yesterdays game. I was at the regular season game loss and it sucked walking out of there afterwards. Bunch of rednecks throwing the usual "cheese" insults directly at us. Bunch of dick heads acted like Falcons totally dominated in that game. I was hoping for a second match. Revenge in that fashion is so sweet. In your face rednecks!!
I am shocked this kind of behavior goes on in NASCAR country. Who knew red neck - hillbilly behavior would be acceptable at a venue having the Zac Brown band sing the anthem.
