Really? We’re being 2 hit and shutout through six. Peralta is doing his part allowing 1 run and 4 hits, one a solo home run, with 5 Ks.

But the offense is, once again, non-existent. The top five hitters in our lineup are 1 for 11.

Please tell me we’re not going to lose a series  to a team that was 15-33 to start. Please?

Monasterio is leading off hitting .160.

Sanchez is batting sixth hitting .216.

Choirio seventh batting .211.

Owen Miller eighth hitting .167.

Perkins is batting ninth hitting .230.

Sigh. I’m trying very hard to stay positive.

Yet the Marlins have 1 guy hitting.283 and the rest of the starters are under.260.  They are winning.

We started out the season at 17-8, and have gone 11-13 since. What’s most troubling is our continued underperforming against bad teams.

I know the pitching staff has injuries, but our offense is really inconsistent.

And Jackson Choirio clearly needs to go down. He is utterly lost right now.

The last 16 games dating back to May 5th:

8 for 45, 1 home run, 3 walks, 9 strikeouts.

.178 AVG/.229 OBP/.244 SLG/.473 OPS

His wOBA for the season stood at .265 coming into the night (a .290 wOBA is considered awful, per Fangraphs) and his wRC+ was at 69. Like OPS+, 100 is standardized league average, meaning that as a hitter, his park adjusted OPS is 31% below National League average.

I'd rather have Chourio playing every day than Wiemer with his .154 BA.  Until Garrett Mitchell comes back Jackson will be playing.

And why is the offense inconsistent?   Injuries also. First Yelich went down when he was having his best season since the knee injury. Mitchell hasn't even played a game yet.   Now Hoskins is hurt.  Owen Miller isn't even close to the hitter he was last season.   Like the Packers this is mostly a young team and it will take time to see the consistency you crave.
