Did Maryland score any three pointers in the second half? It also seemed Maryland missed as many FTs as Bucky did in the second half and Maryland is a hot FT shooting team. Maryland's star players getting into foul trouble, late in the game, did not hurt Bucky, either. Bucky missed several opportunities to take the lead but missed FTs and shots where balls were falling off the rim on lay ups. Thank you Aleem Ford for your clutch threes and thank you Brad Davison for your threes and all around leadership in this game. As for Happ, he had a solid game but was muscled in the paint, quite often, by Maryland's players. Some of those moves on Happ looked to be fouls, but no whistle. I felt the turning point to this game came, with just seconds left in the half, when Bucky created a turnover, found Pritzl in the corner for a three. GO BUCKY!!!

Take away Happ's 6-12 on FT and the rest of the Badgers were 8-11, and that is damned good FT shooting.   They still gave up 9 offensive rebounds which is too many.

What seems to be overlooked by many is Gard's halftime adjustments or motivation.  After a not so good 1st half the Badgers usually play a very good if not great 2nd half.  Keep it rolling Bucky, on to Minnesota Weds.

In the first half, it looked like Maryland was just more athletic and aggressive.  I figured Pritzl's three at the end of the half might be the high point of the game.  But damn if Happ isn't a magician down low and forcing Maryland into foul trouble took away their athletic advantage.  Gard did a good job last night

Missed the game celebrating our anniversary but looks like the G play is picking up. Happ is a great college basketball player, but they have been losing because their Gs have just not been good enough. Looks like they’re starting to believe they can win. Doesn’t change my opinion of what needs to happen with this program, but it’s good to see them win. The team has talent, I have always felt that.

Their defense and rebounding have been consistently good - save for a few Aleem Ford miscues. The credit for that has to go to Gard. There is never a problem with effort. The problem Gard has is in recruiting.

Ford is going to get wide open 3s. He hit arguably the two biggest shots last night. He hit a 3 to put them ahead for good 57-55 with just under 5 minutes left and then hit another to put them up 6 (62-56) with 3 minutes left. The whole complexion of the game changes if he misses those 2 shots.

We also saw again last night why other teams are never out of it against the Badgers - which is Ethan Happ's FT shooting. He started out well at 6 for 8, but then missed his last 4 (including the front end of a one and one) down the stretch. The entire offense goes through him because of how good he is at creating shots for other guys from the post. He's a 5th year senior, it is what it is at this point. But a guy who handles the ball every possession that is a high volume FT shooter that only shoots 47% is a recipe to lose some games you shouldn't. He's 8-21 in their losses and many of those were front ends of 1 and 1s.
