Hey everyone. I think the last time I posted I had stage 4 cancer. I'm in remission now, thank God. It's been hell on Earth. I hope my opinions on the Packers don't overcede the caring of your fellow man. I'm just a guy. Please don't make fun of me because of my opinions. Enough about me.

I think we'll really appreciate Mason Crosby once he's gone. I hope he'll end up in the HOF some day. Thoughts?

Congratulations Anti, I have beat cancer too. But my butt doesn’t look half as sexy as yours.

He's been a real asset for the Packers for 13 of his 14 years. But there's no way he makes the NFL HoF. There are 21 guys ahead of him(340) on career FGs, 4 still active. Of the other 17, 2 are in the HoF (M Andersen,J Stenerud). Career %FG made Crosby ranks in the 40's.

If he plays another 10 years and takes the top spot away from Vinatieri(599), maybe.

Justin Tucker of the Ravens has HoF production. 280 fgs made in 8.5 seasons. If he kicks that well for 24 years, he'll have over 800.

This was my gut instinct but I was too lazy to look it up. Ya, that makes a lot of sense. So I'll stick with Packer HOF'er for sure.

Good on you, Antiworst!
I love hearing stories of success, overcoming long odds, and persevering.

I think Crosby is kicking at level comparable to current HoF kickers, but he would have to play another 6-7 years at his career averages to even approach the likes of Vinatieri, Mort Andersen, or Gary Anderson.

Where Mason really earns his money is in the playoffs. He is 65/65 on PATs and 26/29 on FGs (20 games).

My favorite brother and my only sister both died of melanoma damn cancer.   You are one of the few that live to talk about melanoma cancer......it’s a killer.  Congratulations.

I think Tucker is still a long shot for the HOF, as good as he is. The only guy that is a shoo-in for induction as a placekicker that isn't already in is Vinatieri. The odd thing about Vinatieri is that he only made 3 Pro Bowls. David Akers made 6 Pro Bowls but he's not going to the HOF. It's the post-season clutch kicks that get you in. If the Packers would have won that Seattle NFCC playoff game in OT after Mason hit the game-tying one and then had a game-winner, he starts to get into the conversation.

I think he's in the conversation either way. He's been clutch for a long time, and he's done it with national exposure, even though he's not a household name. Those that pay attention know he had a couple very tough stretches and he was able to bounce back. He kicks in GB which really should be a major plus in the minds of voters, because few places in the league can be as difficult to kick, let alone do it so well for so long. When you include the personal obstacles, which have been documented many times on national tv, he will get the sympathy/can't help but root for the guy vote. If he can hang around 3-4 more years, I think his stock rises in a big way. Either way, he's been a huge positive for a long time, and hof or not, he's had a great career. Total fgs and total points should be a factor, but even that's become extremely skewed with all the dome kickers that can hang around for 40 years and kick on carpet in 70 degrees and no wind or elements. And he can tackle when necessary.

Hey, Anti, congratulations on fighting the good fight! I've been there and done that, and it ain't no fun... I doubt that Mason gets in the HOF, just because so few do. It seems that ST guys get overlooked, even though they can determine if a team wins or loses so much of the time. Witness tonights Colts/Titans game. We all know Money Mason is going in the Packer HOF without a doubt, and I bet he'll be pretty happy with that.
