McCarthy says conditioning test at 11 am at the Hutson Center for the players; administrative meeting later this afternoon.

Team meeting tonight at 6 p.m. for the start of training camp, McCarthy says.

McCarthy on fewer practices, no two-a-days: "We have one more practice than last year. Last year was the beginning of the new format."

McCarthy: "The 27 practices that we have I feel are efficient for us to get ready to play games."

McCarthy calls the first six practices "the new dog days" of training camp. "It's all part of the player safety emphasis."

McCarthy on players who'll be on PUP: Andrew Quarless, Derek Sherrod won't pass physical. John Kuhn might not make it, either, today.

McCarthy: "Our problem isn't tackling a guy to the ground. There is a risk assessment that you take when you put together tackling drills."

McCarthy: Emphasis on tackling this camp won't be on tackling someone to the ground. It's about pursuit angles. #packers

McCarthy: "With the scheduling of our first four games, I thought it was important to have an up-and-down approach" with varied practices.

McCarthy: The goal is to win the Super Bowl. Everyone would be happy with 15-1. But postseason is what counts. #packers

McCarthy if better team/lesser record: "The goal is to be a better team. ... The goal is to win the Super Bowl. Postseason is what counts."

McCarthy stayed in Green Bay all summer. Says this is the "most prepared" he's been for training camp. #packers

With new off. coordinator Tom Clements spending more time with QBs, McCarthy says he'll probably spend more time with line, as Philbin did.

McCarthy: Spring is important, a learning phase. But exciting to get in pads and get going. Real excitement comes with first preseason game.

McCarthy says he's waiting on @CharliePeprah's physical to be completed. Unsure of whether he'll practice tomorrow or not.

McCarthy says he's also waiting on Alex Green's physical. "I tihnk Alex is very close (to practicing)."

McCarthy: Harrell just needs to play. Want to see him play tough in the pocket. Games are important for him. Fundamentally has made strides.

McCarthy: "We need to play better on defense in certain areas."

McCarthy: "My confidence level in Marshall grows every time I see him in practice. ...He has done a lot of good things with his opportunities."

McCarthy: Biggest indicator is that the quarterback has confidence in Newhouse.

McCarthy: Greg Jennings "very astute" in recognizing defenses. ...He understands what people are trying to do w/him, particularly in the slot.

McCarthy on if guys like M.D. Jennings, McMillian have a chance to start: Depends on how you define "starter." ...Special teams will be important.

McCarthy: Hopeful that guys can make a jump. Total different feel to training camp this year, and a feel I'm concerned about.

McCarthy: Rookies last year knew their timeclock was small. Key to a great camp. Concern this year for rookies is that it's not so hard.

McCarthy: Complacency, relaxing, any type of comfort is something you don't want in your training camp. #packers

McCarthy thought shortened camp/no offseason created greater urgency in camp last year, which he liked a lot.

McCarthy: Our expectations are always the same. Nobody else's expectations could be any higher #packers

McCarthy: "This rookie class came in here and when we hit the field, 'This ain't so hard.' That's something that will not be the case tomorrow."

I agree pboi, that injury was nasty, and I think there was a report that said he was off his leg for a couple of months. Hard to condidtion, etc, when you can't walk. I'm glad they are taking it slow with him, we don't necessarily need him, right now. He'll progress and be a good player for us, but let's make sure he gets healed correctly.
you guys want me to piss in your cornflakes today? Wink
Sherrod scares me. For a 1st round pick I thought he'd come in and look rather dominant and he never did. Looked like his head was spinning and didn't look powerful. Hope I'm wrong as hell, but with the injury delay and what I've seen so far... I'll leave it at that.
Yep, he, Peprah, Sherrod and Hawk are a cancer on this locker room. They need to be traded to the Jets immediately for Tim Tebow, and then trade him to the Vikings for Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin. Than trade Peterson to the Browns for Joe Thomas. Then drop a nuke on Metlife Stadium so that we can be sure Hawk, Peprah, Sherrod, and Worthy don't come back to the Packers.

broken bones heal fast for young guys. that fact he's not ready is not a good sign. you keep wishing in your one hand. i'll **** in the other. sooner or later you'll have to scratch and you won't want to give up on your wishes.
That's a bad fracture but on the good side it is more a midshaft fracture (has a reported 12-35% nonunion rate) versus a more proximal (closer to the knee) fracture (has almost a 50-80% nonunion rate). Sherrods healing will have a lot to do with the type of fixation the surgeon decided was best, plate and screw versus internal rod and some screws, I'm assuming he's not a smoker which is always a plus, and finally his weight will have have an impact in his healing as well.
