Uncle Ted Drive anywhere other than in front of St Vincent or Goodwill centers maybe a couple Dollar stores would be wrong. Oh and Kwik Trip.
They were saying on the news that one of the Streets that may be renamed is Ashland Avenue, that is nice main drag in Green Bay and it would be quite an honor for Mike, well deserved!! Once again, I was wrong about McCarthy/Thompson and am ashamed of myself for feeling and expressing myself the way I did paperbag sorry to all that got offended by my comments including the Packer organization if any were reading the cooments on here, I was wrong, I was dead wrong.

I don't believe Wolf ever had a street either. Must not be for GM's. Besides, TT is such a behind-the-scenes kind of guy I'm sure he'd rather not have the recognition. AR will get his though in time.
I was surprised that Chris Wery was one of the alderman against it. I remember when he had championed to have one of the Green Bay streets named after Tony Canadeo, I think it's called something like Tony Canadeo Run. Perhaps that was when the economy was better and that's why he's opposed to that sort of thing right now.

I've know Chris for 20 years since we were in college together and he's a great guy and a fervent Packer fan. I'm surprised he is taking this stance, but I guess I'll agree to disagree with him.

Wolf got the Wolf River named after him, just how Lombardi got St. Vincent Hospital named after him. It is just a coincidence that both were named prior to either arriving in Green Bay.

Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy may have Ridge Road named for him

Saying that a Super Bowl championship calls for a super-sized tribute, Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt said he is moving to rename Ridge Road after Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy.

Schmitt said renaming the road "McCarthy Way" would be a fitting tribute to the coach who brought Green Bay a Super Bowl XLV victory.

Rather than choose a smaller street or propose a partial renaming, Schmitt said he wants to rename the entire stretch of Ridge Road, both in Green Bay and neighboring Ashwaubenon.

I know a lot of you are in favor of this, but I personally think it's premature. I remember feeling somewhat bitter when Holmgrem left after GB named a street after him. How would everyone feel if McCarthy left GB to go coach the vikings? What if he has just one or two good years and then loses his coaching ability? What if he gets embroiled in some sordid scandal? I'm all for memorializing him, but I think we should wait and let his body of work build up a bit.
