The Titans are parting ways with their starting right tackle.
Tennessee has waived/injured Michael Oher, the club said Thursday.
The 28-year-old Oher started all 11 games in which he played for Tennessee in 2014 before landing on injured reserve with a toe injury. He reportedly signed a four-year, $20 million contract in March.
Oher graded out 75th of 84 qualifying tackles in 2014, per Pro Football Focus, which rates player performance.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, nearly 85 percent of Oher’s $4 million salary would have been guaranteed for 2015 if he were to have remained on the Titans’ roster by Friday.
A first-round pick in 2009, Oher played his first five NFL seasons with Baltimore, starting and playing every game for the club in that span. His upbringing was depicted in a book (“The Blind Side)
Right tackle looks to be one of the Titans’ needs entering the offseason. Byron Stingily, who filled in for Oher at season’s end, is slated to be an unrestricted free agent.
Did injuries do him in? I thought at one time he was a decent RT. I'd still MUCH rather have Bulaga but I wonder if GB would give him a look. He's 28.
