Chips:

Aramis Ramirez
Corey Hart
Nori Aoki
Rickie Weeks - no value, unless he breaks out big in June.

Kyle Lohse - Probably not due to just signing the FA deal.
John Axford... yeah I know.
K-Rod?

Brewers do not have that headlining trade chip like they have in the past, but if A-Ram continues to mash, he will be worth more in trade in June/Early July than at the deadline to some teams. Would you start pulling the trigger in late June on this team if they are still under .500?

I'd trade Aramis for a front line prospect starter. In a heartbeat. But who?

The Orioles have a log jam with Machado and Hardy at third and short, and Jonathan Schoop waiting in the wings. The O's won't trade Gausman, and Dylan Bundy should be considered untouchable.

Boston? Matt Barnes or Henry Owens might be interesting. Middlebrooks isn't exactly lighting it up this season.

The Yankees? No thank you. Manny Banuelos has been stumbling, Dellin Betances is off the radar, and Ty Hensley is 3 years away from being in the Majors. We want somebody in AA or higher to start the season.

The Rays will be set at third and short. They have a lot of pitching, and should be stronger offensively with Wil Myers on the way. Chris Archer for ARam?

The Blue Jays have Aaron Sanchez, but they likely won't part with him after saying goodbye to Syndergaard. Plus, they think they're set at third with Lawrie.

The Twins might be a possible trading partner, though Miguel Sano will be up before long to man third. Maybe Aramis Ramirez could play first, but I think Mauer moves there eventually full time. Alex Meyer or Kyle Gibson might be nice in Brewer blue. The Twins are a team about to be on the upswing, so they might be buyers.

Nationals? No way they part with Cole or Giolito. They're set at third with Zim and Anthony Rendon coming up soon.

The Phillies might be an option, but I don't see them giving up Jesse Biddle, and I don't want Ethan Martin. Control problems, and we don't have the coaches to work those out of him.

The Mets aren't letting any of their three young studs go. Might as well count on Harvey, Wheeler and Syndergaard being there for the next decade if they are healthy. That's going to be a devastating top three in the rotation.

The Dbacks are a possibility, too, though they just got rid of Trevor Bauer. They still have Archie Bradley and Tyler Skaggs, though I don't see them moving either.

The Dodgers have Kershaw and Greinke, and Zach Lee is going to make for a nice #3. Would they bite if we asked for Lee?

We might as well forget about Gerrit Cole, Jameson Taillon, Tony Cingrani, Robert Stephenson, Carlos Martinez or Michael Wacha. No central team is going to help us. They're enjoying seeing us flounder.

One starter I'd make an exception for, and that's Max Fried of the Padres. He's only in single A, but this kid is going to be something. Baseball America compares him to Clayton Kershaw. I don't know if they'd even entertain offers. Casey Kelly and Fried should make for a nasty right-left starter combo.
If Ramirez continues to hit well he's a prime candidate to be dealt. I like the guy but they will still owe him big money next year and if they could get a solid pitching prospect I'd make that move.

Obviously we'd love to deal Weeks or Axford but their salaries make it nearly impossible.

The other guy could be Lohse. He has pitched pretty well but like Ramirez he's not a long term guy and he's making pretty good coin.

What we know today is that Fiers has regressed, Rogers cannot be trusted, who knows about Thornburg, and Peralta still has a lot of fine tuning before becoming a reliable starter. The same can be said for Burgos but I don't know if he's the answer either.

This team is pitching poor including the farm system and that has to change if they want to be serious contenders. They have a good core nucleus of Braun, Hart, Gomez, and Segura to build around but they need more quality pitching.
Weeks will just drive down the return in any trade. Heck he probably makes any trade a no-go based on his $$$ owed for the next two/potentially 3 seasons if they continue to roll them out there moronically like they are.

Right now, IMO Ramirez should be gone in late June. Some of your concern is who will play 3b. I think they can look at interested parties and see if they have a journeyman or a young blocked player at 3b and look for that type of a player in return. Think Casey McGehee... before he sucked, or think of a talented blocked 3b like... Anthony Rendon.

Corey Hart is a logical trade candidate to Washington when he returns. LaRoche is pretty ****ty at 1b. Hart could slide right in. With Zimmerman in the fold, I would be looking for a return of Rendon for Hart. But we would likely have to ship a guy like Henderson with Hart to make it happen.

I'd do it.

LaRoche is far from that.. However I do agree that Hart will fetch the best return if he is dumped.

EDIT: LaRoche also has a gold glover in his pocket.

What value does Weeks have at this point even at a minimum salary? He hasn't played any position other than 2B or DH his entire major league career, so he doesn't have a lot of value as a utility guy. Even at 2B, his dWAR is -7.2 for his career, so he's statistically a terrible fielding 2B.

He's struck out 220 times in 735 at bats in 2012-13 and he's got one sacrifice bunt and 7 sac flys since 2008, so he's not that strong in moving along runners.

He's Bill Hall part 2. Both were guys that had a good year and looked to be on the cusp of being consistent stars, but were both done as productive players by the time they were 28 or 29 years gold. We overpayed in both cases because management was afraid that after they invested all the development time that both guys would go somewhere else and become superstars.
