Green Bay --- With a wide smile in-between photos and autographs, Mike Daniels turned around unprompted.

"You're going to hear me talking about Julius Peppers all off-season," the third-year Packers defensive lineman said.

Count Daniels as one player particularly stoked to play with Green Bay's splashy new signing. After two hours of chatting and joking with children during the "Big Event for Little Kids" at Shopko Hall Saturday, Daniels beamed while talking Peppers. He says the 34-year-old joins an already-talented defensive line.

And even at this age, Daniels maintains that Peppers can have a major impact on Green Bay's defense.

Charles Woodson played pretty well at 34," Daniels said. "Julius Peppers is by every means of the word a ‘freak of nature.’ I don’t think age is going to affect him too much. And he’s got some pretty good players lined up with him. Our front seven is very good. When you add the element of Julius Peppers to that. The sky’s the limit in my opinion.”

“I think he’s going to bring a whole other element to our locker room," Daniels said. "He’s proven. He’s a guy who does things right, obviously, with all the success he’s had. I think he’s going to be great for a lot of the younger guys — Nick, Josh, Datone, myself, Jerel. He’s really someone for us to learn from. You look at Mike Neal and Clay, he’s got some years on them, too. I think he’s got a lot to bring to the team in terms of that.

“He’s a heck of a presence. He gets the job done on the field and to be able to line up next to Julius is going to be a sight.”

"I don’t know if you’ve had the opportunity to see him, to get on the field after a game or something. Oh my God. Wait until you see him in person when he comes in the locker room. It might scare you.

"That’s a big man. I can’t wait to get on the field with him. I can’t wait to learn from him professionally. He’s got it done. He knows what it takes. He’s done it the right way. I can’t wait to get working with him.”

Been through many contract negotiations in my line of work, including 1st chair several times, so know a little bit about leverage and how it works in trying to reach agreement

It does sound like Daniel's feels there has been a leadership void since Charles went back to Oakland. Not a glowing endorsement on Hawk, Burnett, or even Clay.

I believe Daniels had some additional quotes that were part of this interview where he touched on being tired of having to discuss the troubles the D has had the last two years, how he just wished the D could go one full season without injuries to see how good they could actually be, and the sting of the SF loss in the playoffs.

Id like to see Daniels in GB for a long while. He's good.

Edit. Found the link with Daniels comments and some video here

If Worthy is a football player he can help make Daniels and Datone better and they'll help him. Ted drafts them looking at the group as a collective that can help each other flourish. You do that when you pick 20 plus in round 1 every year and dont have the luxury of Top 5 talent.

Stoked about this draft.    I think the Pep move was brilliant.   I like the idea of re-signing most of our own free agents.

MLB   Safety  Some more bigs on either side of the line and a TE in the draft.   Bring in some hungry UDFA's as per usual and we are going to have a fun ride in 2014-15
