At least Fox can advertise the shit out of the Womenβs World Cup.
I will agree to watch if I can kneel for all the matches.
Speaking of aggrieved feminists, remember that time the WNBA canceled their slate of games becauseβ¦the cops shot Jacob Blake? π
We can make this the Festivus thread if you guys like.

Or Iβll watch the Womenβ World Cup if they let these lads play:
Nice conversation with yourself. Almost fedyaya like. I agree the unis suck. Bring back real baseball all-star game.
I do like the micβd up conversation between Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.
6 Rangers on the field.
That's kinda cool.
Who are the Rangers? π
So Iβm watching all the tv ads.
Did you know that only 4% of Americans are white? My people(TM) have accomplished some wonderful thingsβ¦we need a month. π

That team that has always been picked to win the division but hasn't won the division since 2016.
If you think i have a lot of grievances tonight..wait until my ESPYβS thread tomorrow.
What inning will we see Burnes?

Blair vs Fedya in the Feats is Strength? Could be the undercard for Musk vs Zuckerberg.
And the NL takes the lead 3-2.
Nice glovework by the NL in the 8the. Could they win this thing? Could I care less?
Could you care more?
I'm shocked they weren't giving away free Blizzards between innings!

Jim Valvano's "don't ever give up" speech at the ESPYs in the 90s was one of the most memorable television moments in my lifetime.
They should having the show right after that because nothing was ever going to top that. I haven't watched in years. With ESPN laying off many of the remaining who retained my interest in the last two weeks, it seems ridiculous to do this. Of course, they can use it to promote "journalists" and "expert commentators" like Stephen A. Smith and Pat McAfee.
The Brewers are on pace to win about 90 games. I wonder how many times in the past a team on that type of pace has not had a player appear in the all-star game? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Burnes and Williams got some extra rest, but it does point out how good a job Counsell has done. Burnes really hasn't been good enough this year to qualify.
In terms of position players, the Brewers top guy for OPS (among guys with enough plate appearances to qualify) in the league is Yelich and he is 35th. We are all happy that Yelich has returned to being a very good player, but let's face it, it's not like he's in the conversation about being a top 10 or even a top 20 player anymore. He's had a great 6 weeks, but we see if he reverts back to the mean a little bit and ends up with something like 18 HRs and 70 RBIs.
Of guys with enough plate appearances to qualify, Contreras is their #2 guy and he is 69th. Adams is their 3rd best at 109th.
While OPS isn't everything, it's a pretty good measure for overall impact.
The Brewers are just a boring team to watch right now (thank god for Uecker). I really hope Chourio ends up being as good as he's being advertised and that Misiorowski can gain enough control to make that 102 mph fastball work at the major league level. Right now, it's hard to get excited about tuning in to watch a bunch of guys hit about 210 and hit about 15-20 home runs a year. That describes about two thirds of their lineup.
Theyβre a game out of a playoff spot. I watched too much 70βs and 90βs Brewers editions to think any game these days is boring. Every single game is important. You know whoβs boring? The fucking Cardinals.

I still follow them because I'm a Brewers fan, but being one game out of playoff spot at this point makes them the equivalent of a team fighting for the 8th seed in the NBA. I know the Heat just made the Finals as an 8th seed, but for the most part, you know they have no real chance of actually contending for a title, the owner is cutting costs as much as he can, and the team hasn't developed a position player of any note in about a decade.
It is better than the 90s Brewers (post 1992), but it's mainly because they have a better manager and a few good pitchers.
Having said all that, maybe this post will end up making me look idiotic when Yelich hits 20 HRs after the all-star break, Hiura gets called up and goes Hurricane Hazel for the rest of the year, and they win a title.
I was 9 and remember our 1957 HH, my wife remembers vividly going thu 1954 HH as a kid in South Jersey as a 6 year old.

The 1957 Braves were 12 years before I was born, but every time a new Brewer player would come up and look like they were going to be great, an older relative would say that you needed to be patient and wait to see them do well over a longer timeframe. Hurricane Hazel was always their example of why you needed to not get too excited over the first few weeks of someone's time in the big leagues.
Hazle's stretch was amazing because it was mostly contained within a 20 game stretch in August-September.
In those 20 games, he went 35 for 70 with 11 walks, 7 doubles and 5 HRs and 22 RBIs. That's a 1381 OPS. The Brewers also won 20 of the first 26 games he played in.
Outside of that, he was fairly terrible over the rest of his career. In fact, the rest of his major league career he was 46 for 227 with 4 HRs with 15 RBIs.

It's beginning to appear that Huria has a AAA bat. With how some of the regulars have struggled this season and yet Huria remains in AAA shows the front office as no confidence in him as a Major Leaguer. If he is to see the Majors again it may be with another organization.
Really thought that kid was going to win a batting title when he came up.
An AAA title is a worthy achievement

There must be a scouting report on him that he can't handle certain pitches at the big league level. His strikeout percentage is the worst in MLB and is even worse since most guys that strikeout a lot also draw walks. Hiura almost never walks either.
Strikeout percentage (Strikeouts/At-bat)
2022 Brewers 47%
2021 Brewers 45%
2020 Brewers 40%
2019 Brewers 34%
AAA Career : 32%
AA Career: 18%
A Career: 23%
He always had a propensity to strikeout a lot, but there are rumblings that the Brewers hitting coaches screwed him up.
https://www.brewcrewball.com/2...iuras-brewers-tenure
However, Hiuraβs profile shifted the year before. There were rumblings that the Brewers altered his swing in search of more home runs, resulting in Hiuraβs swing-and-miss problem and inconsistent MLB output.
The fact that many of their top hitting prospects struggle at the MLB level makes you wonder if their organizational approach causes a lot of this. They are great at developing and/or retooling pitchers and are the polar opposite for hitters.
I'm excited about the future for this club. With Contreras under team control for 5 more years, the youngsters in an outfield of Frelick, Mitchell and Wiemer, Yelich as a possible DH, a little retool of the infield and the offense should get going. As for pitching Burnes and Woodruff may not get the offers some are speculating with the seasons they are having along with the rest of the current rotation and you still have a contending team.
