Look at the comment section below this article. I realize we're not doing with the Capital of Positivity here, but I think they bring up some of the issues in the DL and Secondary that I already think gives us the edge.

Eagles preview

I agree with the guy who says their running game will be the key. If the Eagles pull this one out it will be because we weren't able to stop McCoy. Forte had some scary gains last week and Martz abandoned him for some reason. Interesting flip side is their D is vulnerable to the run. Would love to see Starks and Kuhn have big days.

Martz abandoned Forte for the same reason that Reid will abandon McCoy (and MM too often abandons the run). Pass-crazy.
I wouldn't be too worked up about the Forte runs. The staff has pretty much said their top priority was getting after Jay and eliminating the big play. Forte ripped off a few big ones against the nickel, but Cutler did nothing.

The Bears can not drive the football, and Dom challenged them to do just that. They responded with 3 points.

I can't say how this will affect the gameplan against Philly, but I wouldn't sweat Forte's production.
IMO, A Packer victory will be ours if 3 things occur:

1) Packer Offense scores 24 and held <=1 turnover.

2) No TD's are given up to Philly on Special teams.

3) The Combo of McCoy and Vick are held to <=125 yds of rushing.
McCoy in the screen game gonna be an X-Factor, Bishop gonna earn his oats on that.

All doable.

Side Note: Make Vick rollout to his right towards the Claymaker, he's not gonna want to but hopefully Compers makes him.

Clay is going to have to be very careful when he is rushing the passer vs Vick. If he goes to far up the field, or takes the underneath without someone behind him to keep containment, Vick will have a field day running the ball to Matthews side of the defense.

I predict we'll see less from Matthews as a pass rusher this Sunday because Capers will ask him to be responsible for holding his lane.
Disagree CJS.

Vick will be running to the left (pass run option) side unless Capers forces him toward Clay. If he rolls right he'll be running more often than not. I think there is a stat on that somewhere? Vick rarely throws when rolling to the right, I think. That's a weakness. Hopefully the Packers can take advantage of it.
Vick tends to forget his progressions when forced to his right. This has been mentioned/discussed quite a bit the past few days on various sports talk shows. I'm sure Reid and Vick both know this, but you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I expect Capers to capitalize on this issue.
Boris - good point, but if Matthews charges up the field and takes himself out of the play he's leaving a free lane to run into. If Vick is rolling out to his left, obviously Matthews can turn it loose on that play. We'll see what happens, but I think that we'll see a more cautious Matthews this week.

Yep, Reid and Martz are both obsessed with the passing game.

If the D can force Vick to move to his right, we'll win this game.
On paper this looks like a mismatch for the Packers

Eagles like to blitz- GB (Rodgers) has been very good at beating the blitz
Eagles DBs are banged up- GB is money with their passing game
Eagles DL hasn't been able to rush the passer- GB's OL has had problems

All that being said, Reid and the Eagles historically have been a tough out in the playoffs, and at home I think the Eagles have only lost one or two games (total) since Reid has been HC. Then there's the Vick factor. Over the years he's had monster games against GB.

As is the case with a lot of games, I think it comes down to which team makes less mistakes. Against AZ last year that's what killed the Packers. To start the game Rodgers had 2 picks and they had a tough time recovering from a 14-0 hole. If Rodgers and the Packers can take care of the ball I think they will win the game.
The best thing that could have happened for the Packers is to have faced Vick in week 1. You can't simulate his impact on a game nor game speed. He played as well in that game as he ever has, and I think the Packers' defensive players will have a healthy respect for what he can do. Coach Dom will take care of the rest.

Me too.

But then again, Goaline said he would take BJunk over McCoy (and others) in the infamous RB YPC respect greatest thread ever. Smiler So, no worries.

Reid will not run him enough... so the Packers will need to contain him in the passing game. McCoy leads all RBs in receptions.
Trent Cole is hunting this week

''Trent Cole's locker tells you all you need to know about his mindset for Sunday.

Taped inside is a photo of Aaron Rodgers, crudely cut, with a rifle scope's target drawn on in black marker.

"I’ve seen previous games where he’s gotten disrupted when people start hitting. He's been through a couple concussions and all that stuff, and, like I said, we’ve got to get on him early and get on him fast and I think it’s going to create problems for him," Cole said Friday.

An avid outdoorsman, Cole was wearing camouflaged colored Under Armour with the word "hunting" across the chest.

"We’ve got to get on him quick and as fast as possible," Cole said. "It starts up front and we’ll go from there."

Rodgers, Cole said, gets the ball out quickly, meaning there's no time for elaborate rush moves.

"You've got to go straight to him," Cole said. "Ain't no more juking and all that crap, you’ve got to go straight to the quarterback, straight line, that’s the quickest way."

A very interesting topic.

I'm glad to have Cullen back for this game, but one thing that always stuck out to me was how he would push too far upfield and give the QB a spot to step up and make the play or run,he was guilty of it several times in the Bear game, which brought the different 'spy' technique (theorized) of keeping Walden around to make sure Cutler wouldn't run.

I think the worry about Clay getting forced too far upfield is legitimate too. Cullen has been out too long now for that to be a 'pattern' but it is imperitive that the rushers maintain their lanes, quad issues with Vick or not...

If I have noticed this, I am sure that Dan Compers and Gevin Kreene has too. The thing is, if we make the adjustments, I dont see a way they can adjust to our adjustments.

If our offense can wake up, we will be fine. I would love to see Starks get more chances to run, he seems to 'have it' but rightly, do we want a rookie RB running too much and get popped for a fumble. *shrug*

I remember when Dorsey had his coming out in the playoffs. Let all of us be scared, let them fear, and OMG can Sunday come soon enough!!

F***
