Lawyers on behalf of former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Kevin Henry (right) and ex-Green Bay Packers fullback Najeh Davenport (left) filed the lawsuit in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in hopes of establishing on class-action lawsuit on behalf of other black claimants. Davenport, 41, and Smith, 51, played in the NFL for seven and eight years, respectively, and both claim to have suffered multiple concussions. Now they say they are suffering cognitive decline in the form of memory and speaking impairment

When you shit in closets before your career gets started, what kind of baseline you think weβre gonna get on olβ Najeh?
You make it sound like shittinβ in closets is a bad thing
Good luck proving that one and even if they prove cognitive decline directly related to concussions...how about all the concussions they suffered over the years in pop warner, high school and college?
Just another shakedown...
Should this be in the Seattle Shit Show thread?
I have had concussions and a TBI. And I suspect that a number of others have too. If I remember π right, CTEβs are the result of multiple traumas and can only be diagnosed in an autopsy. Not everyone who has head trauma gets CTE. Itβs a serious problem but the research has not been able to diagnose it on living humans. I am glad that folks are taking it seriously but I wonder if some others are using a real issue to promote their own self interest?
Iβm all for giving Najeh an autopsy.
quite a few former players have complained about the testing done to determine whether they are eligible for payouts - and the NFL has a history of weaseling out on their obligations. More of the same here.
At the same time, there are other players who are trying to take advantage of the system and getting cash when they don't really qualify.
Thankfully, all the lawyers are getting paid - that's comforting
