Is it possible to turn off the ginormous banner that takes up the top of the page showing the title of the thread and has everything scroll under it? It's way too big when the subject takes up more than one line.

It's worse if you try reading the site on a smartphone.
Write shorter thread titles.
Tell that to Goldie. 
And try writing a reply in landscape orientation. The banner and the keyboard pretty much take away the entire screen, so you see about one line of the reply box.

You could try RIGHT clicking anywhere on the banner. If you see BLOCK ELEMENT on the list, your in business.
