Wait. What?

If what you're saying is we can afford to lose Jennings more than Lang based on the respective depth of each player's position, sure, I can see where you're coming from. Greg Jennings is a special player, though. One that I don't think TT would want to let walk just yet. He has at least a few productive seasons left in him.

Lang shows promise, but I don't know if we can identify him as one of the best guards in the business. Jennings can be identified as among the best at his position.

I chose Clay. Out of that whole group, I think he's got the most "special" in him by a wide margin.

Agreed. Since he's not due to hit free agency until 2014, I still say Jennings is the #1 priority right now, however. If both were due up at the same time, Clay would need to be addressed first.

This.
I don't like the idea of breaking the bank for Jennings. He deserves it and has earned it, but I prefer the team spread that money around to multiple players, not one elite WR. He should and will demand top 5 money. Can we afford the highest paid QB, it will happen, a top 5 WR and still have money to be competitive at the other 20 positions?

Extending Raji scares me. He had two drastically different seasons. Sure he had no help last year, but still, he fell off hard.

My top priority would be Clay and then Lang. Clay is obvious, the guy is one of the few special players in the NFL.. Lang, if done early, could end up being a bargain and protecting the franchise should be a top priority.
IMO, CM3 is going to be the toughest contract to get done. Keeping Jennings, Raji, and Lang is important. But CM3 is the guy on the list GB can not afford to lose.

Mario Williams 6 year $100 million with $50 million guaranteed scares the crap out of me becasue CM3 might look at that and simply decide to play out his current deal and see what he's offered.

Ahmad Brooks of all people was just offered a 6 year $37 million extension with $18 mill guaranteed. That's an insane contract for a 5 year vet that has fewer tackles and sacks than CM3 has accumulated in 3 years.
Clay will be paid like a top 5 34 OLB, as he should. His numbers are on par with the higher paid OLBs in the league.

My guess at what Clay will get based off the contracts of DeMarcus Ware, Tamba Hali, LaMarr Woodley, Terrell Suggs, and James Harrison:

6 years, 54 million, 11 million signing bonus, 30 million guaranteed

Clay's production over the past 3 seasons has been behind Ware, Woodley, and Hali but about the same as Suggs and Harrison. There obviously are a lot of other factors that come into play other than sack totals, but this was just a rough guess.
It's taken around 5 years to get the O-line settled, and it's still a work in progress. The point is, I hope that's taken into consideration in regards to keeping/extending Lang. We'll have a new Center in the next couple of years, and I can't think of a better way for him to acclimate than between Sitton and Lang. And BrainDed made a good point about protecting ARod.

CM3 is a no-brainer, IMO. In addition to the many reasons mentioned to extend him, the most important (to me) is that he will be the the leader of the defense after CWood finally retires. I can't think of anybody else better suited to that 'job', and he will be the veteran prescence for a young (and growing) defense.

I hope a deal for Jennings works out, as well. His importance to the offense is similar to how CM3 is for the D. When DD retires, he will be the vet at that position. It's hard to think that he could lose out in a numbers game, whether it at position or via salary cap issues.
I also believe that what happens at TE also affects what happens at WR, and vice-versa. Moreso if the trend of featuring a high-production TE continues.

Raji and Finley would be next up, but the above 3 will be the highest priority.
Probably a naive hope, but I'm hoping these guys offer the Pack a Discount Double Check so we can keep together what, to me, is the most promising assembly of talent I can remember dating back to the days of Lombardi.

This team has a chance to do something special in the next 10 years. A chance to create a legacy similar to the Lombardi teams. It's possible if things break right that people will be able to debate which teams were better: Lombardi's or McCarthy's? Right now it would be comical, but by 2020? Who knows.

And the thing is every NFL team basically has a pie. The Salary Cap Pie. If some players take TOO big a slice, their teammates are eating slivers or crumbs. Surely you wouldn't expect Jerrett Bush to get paid what CMIII, ARod or Raji get, but if the Big Dogs are hell bent on being the top paid at their position, depth will seriously suffer and we'll lose budding young stars like Cobb before we should.

Just my thoughts.
