Iβm watching ND vs. Louisville. Offense coordinator for Louisville is ex-Packer, QB Brian Brohm. Who remembers him?
@Packy posted:Sounds like a great trip. Iβve been to Asheville several times and recently and enjoyed each. Great hiking, breweries, restaurants, artwork, restaurants, etc. Nashville is fun but can be busy with bachelorette parties, etc. Still always great music somewhere!
It was my first trip to both places. The hiking options in Asheville are incredible. The only place Iβve ever been to rival it for breweries is Portland. Unfortunately , my beer drinking days are over, but my kids made up for that.
I have always considered Nashville a place of bachelorette parties and country music, not that I dislike country music. There is much more to do there.
@BrainDed posted:100%. People are genuinely nice. Neighbors WANT to help each other.
I feel like race relations are way better in South than they are anywhere else too. I donβt know how to articulate it, itβs just a feeling of normalcy there as there seems to be less segregation than on the west coast I go to the bar in rural SC and chances are itβs 50/50 black / white On the west coast, you stay on your side of the town Thatβs my experience at least. Iβm sure there are pockets of extremists here and there, but it appeared the normal people were more accustomed to not being segregated there than anywhere else Iβve spent time
Yes, and unfortunately those pockets get all the attention.
Not to βharshβ anyoneβs buzz, but here is my take on Asheville. We visited a few times and bought a lot in a nice subdivision there and engaged a builder. The reality of that city is the local government has decided that the βrightsβ of the mentally ill and drug addicted to be on every corner panhandling and harassing citizens supersedes the rights of taxpayers.
We rethought our decision and decided on suburban Raleigh. We thank our lucky stars every day.
ND v Louisville is da bomb. Did anyone see Oklahoma v Texas today? Love Saturdays.
Went to Key West once from Wisconsin. From Kentucky on down, everyone was awesome.

Stopped at a little restaurant in a small town Kentucky.(maybe it was in southern Indiana). They were so nice. The town was adorable.

So, panhandling was your major concern? Mentally ill and drug addicted on every corner. It must have changed since I was last there but I was also unable to diagnose mentally ill and those with drug addictions.
I'm considering a joke about BK and drugs, but I still think he knows where I live.
@Packy I failed to mention the crime that goes along with that cohort. While I am no clinician nor rocket scientist, I gather you donβt agree with my statement about the folks at most intersections being mentally ill or drug addicted. What would your diagnosis be? Quirky? Starving artists? Misunderstood millennials?

I didnβt see a single panhandler in Asheville. Lots of them in Nashville.
Edit: Wifey just reminded me of the guy by the airport.

Hereβs 25%. Would you like me to help you with Google?

Maybe they got tired of the problemβ¦we made our decision 3 years go based upon the conditions then.

Just seemed like without knowing each situation that you were throwing them all into a negative group. Many could be homeless without any mental illness or drug addiction. Until you know, you donβt know.
A lot can change in 3 years. I am used to Madison where there are lots of panhandlers, so perhaps I was oblivious of their presence.
Madison is on my list to visit. Iβve heard itβs a cool city but never been there. Iβll still visit even if there are a lot of panhandlers there.
The more you know....

But I didnβt mention homeless people. I mentioned people that I presumed to be mentally ill or drug addicted. The reason I presumed it is because that is a fact. Are you saying that is an incorrect assumption? We have a huge homeless problem in this country mostly driven by mental illness and drug addiction. Take those two factors out and the problem is more than halved.
Blair, all good. Back to footballβ¦,Check out ND vs Louisville. Louisville fans will fill the field soon.
Peace. Yes, great game for Louisville..just as I was starting to like Notre Dame.
Louisville is destroying ND. I've had the game on since the half when it was still close. Since then, Louisville has been playing downhill. Hard-hitting game.
Upset in the works?
Can someone explain why the only way to pronounce Louisville is with a mouthful of marbles?
Upset? Louisville is up 33-13 with 1:40 to go in the game. The party tonight will outdo the Kentucky Derby for sure!
Ah, ND just scored as Louisville is playing Barry's defense.
Letβs be honest.
Sam Hartman should have won this game based on beautiful hair alone.

One way.
βLouvullβ
On any given Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Thursday or maybe Fridayβ¦upsets happen. Iβll be glad if the Pack gets to double digit wins this season.
Now to switch over to Georgia Tech/Miamiβ¦another compelling game.

Like the great Louvull Armstrong?
Kind of.
Actually, it would be Loull Armstrong.
I don't accept. It's louyville or bust.
Like louEville?
@RochNyFan posted:Great show.
Really is. Really charming show.
@RochNyFan posted:I was supposed to go with friends to a U2 concert in Philly a couple of years ago. We backed out because of other priorities and I was experiencing FOMO until one of my friends said it was one of the worst concerts he had ever been to. Turned into a quasi political rally just as much as a concert. I like their music, especially the early stuff, and I pay to be entertained, not to be lectured.
That's like going to Taco Bell and being surprised when you get the shits.
I switched on USC-Arizona. So far, the AZ defense has been unreal. They are making Caleb Williams look pretty ordinary. It will be interesting to see if AZ can keep it up in the second half. AZ starts a second-year guy as their starter is hurt. It's 17-7 with 2:20 before the half.
