Who knew that Roger was trying to define the truth for all of us? What a great man! A man with his vision will demonstrate how Mother's Day and Father's Day are scams for the telecom, flower, and necktie industries (and coincidentally not his). This is his defining moment of principle! Or maybe since NASCAR doesn't run on Mother's day weekend he is grabbing that last $0.56 on the table.
The scheduling conflict is a ruse, the real reason is the same reason the NFL does everything. $$$. Moving their prime time extravaganza into May ratings sweeps = more cash for the networks

For example: The NFL is currently laying out plans for the 2018 Super Bowl, quite certain they knew about Easter of 2013 years ago... so no sale on that little fib. Even Peter King called them out on it in his MMQB

The networks get what the networks want and the NFL owners are only too happy to oblige. The football guys are pushing back, but money talks the loudest
How many things does this idiot need to change? I can't stand him. What is wrong with having it in April like it has been forever? It seems to me that everything the NFL was before he got there, isn't good enough for him. He is trying to make it HIS league even though he is pissing off the players and fans who make this league. F-him!

I guess the commissioner feels that Mothers aren't important.

Obviously, the commish thinks that when all those NY area fanboys emerge from all their mom's basements to slog over to Radio City next year they should, you know, bring mom along for once.

It was just something to look forward to. Now we have to wait another three weeks. It is now right in the middle of fishing season for me and it looks like I won't be seeing much of the draft anymore.
Viewership in Minnesota likely to go down as the Mother's Day weekend is the walleye fishing opener. When the state changed the opener to Mother's Day it received a lot of criticism, and now the NFL only adds to it. Obviously, moms get no respect. Flower shops will probably do well as guys send love/miss-you messages from afar. Big Grin

I think you are onto something. We should just move all special days to mother's day - celebrate it all at once. Then the rest of the summer will be quiet(er). And if all that stuff occurs on one date, I will still choose the NFL draft.

And considering the draft will be over on Saturday... Roll Eyes

While all of that is true, I take a trip to NY every year.

Moving it to Mom's day weekend really sucks for me
