That will have to be AWESOME. An exerpt from the article on top 5 defensive players on tecmo:

5. Wayne Haddix – like Packers NT Bob Nelson, one of the games great mistakes

I remember a post on here some time ago where somebody said Bob Nelson was a terror on tecmo. Hi larious.
Worst part of the NFL vibrating football game was finding the fugging nugget if you did kick it.

Hell it had passing too. Slot that piece of foam on the foot or arm and give a flick. I think I lost at least 1 friendship between 9-11 as a kid arguing if it hit a receiver. Or made the goalpost.

Hell, it probably started the whole theory of "go for it" on 4th down.

I have my game around somewhere, too bad it is mutilated enough that it isn't worth crap right now. But, I still have a few foam balls left, at least 1 goal post, a board with Packers/Steelers stuck to it, and 4 teams. Denver, Dallas, Green Bay, and the Steelers. Some bases are straight ahead, some with the wheel to angle the motion.

O.M.F.G.

Hours and HOURS of fun and bickering for a game.

blush hug

I will find it and post some pic tomorrow.

OH, and TECMO Bowl?

Dominated.
I still have mine too. Got it out a Christmases ago so the kids could see it work. On mine you could bend the pegs on the bottom to make them go one way. We always played the yellow guys as Packers and white as Bears. I still have a few felt footballs too.

YES!! PackerFanFan and I played a game where Lou Groza (the game came with the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants, before we ordered the Packer and Cowboy teams) and he got Groza to kick a 70 yard field goal that split the uprights!

He played patty-cake in real life at DT but in Tecmo he was Reggie White & LT combined!
I used to rack up 100+ sacks with him. The move it is done with is apparently called "lurching". Even without it, I still could probably take the Packers to a 19-0 season in my sleep to this very day.

My cousin got this for Xmas 1 year and I was hooked ... I'd walk thru a snow blizzard to go play this at his house.

Dum arse in the video was not putting the disc in right, you had to put what play type you wanted at the top when you pushed the disc down in order to have that play type play on speaker.

It was a great game until you knew the disc backwards, forwards and everything in between.

and like someone said before, after we got fired up battling in the house we took it outside in the snow (pretending we were in Lambeau) ... some good hitting going on with a little memory of Talking Football game from in the house. Literally some snot-knockin goin on Smiler

good times, good times ...

Thanks! DVR is set.

Loved Tecmo Bowl.

Ahhh...Steroids...
Loved it! Used to whip my uncle at it and drive everyone nuts at the same time since they had to listen to the vibrating board and pieces jiggling. Played it for hours at a time. Wish I still had one of the old ones...

Never, even though the kicker was 3x bigger than the regular players and had a spring-loaded leg. Could never keep players from hooking arms and doe-si-doeing in a circle, either.

After a while I just gave up on the electric part of electric football and concentrated on creating detailed goal-line tableaux by piling the players on top of each other.
I think once I was able to kick a FG and the time I did I beat my Viking fan cousin at Christmas

Does anyone else remember the Super Toe football player where you banged on their head to kick field goals? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVxD5VMAOcs

Tecmo Bowl was great I would play the Raiders as Bo Jackson and I was just unstoppable on every play.

Lol... He was unstoppable, but you could do it with any nose tackle. Just dive baby!

That game ushered in the era of Madden... Changed gameplay forever.
Had the obligatory electric football game as a kid. It was the Super Bowl edition, but one year too late (Colts vs Jets). Still had great fun with it, though, especially when you tired of playing and would crank the vibration wide open.
No idea where I was during the Techmo Bowl era, but I missed it completely.
Still have this bad boy packed away in a closet, though:
I don't know if they made improvements to the kicker later on but my kicker in the early 60s never left the box. 4th and whatever on every drive. Switched between Tecmo and Carom all the time.

Bob Nelson, when excellent, was unstoppable. Quick move to the left, dive, and sack the QB. I could nail the quarterback 20 x a game with him. It was so much fun.

And I rocked on Keith Woodside! Of course, whenever I'd get going on him, he'd get hurt. Mad

There's a site dedicated to Tecmo. You can download it and play it on your PC with an emulator. They've got the rosters and teams updated for 2012. You can also download an editor, and put yourself in the game. God didn't give me a football player's body, but in tecmo, I can run like mad for the Packers! Wink
So, I've been reading this thread....never had Tecmo Bowl, but I had this football game with red and green plastic players (about 5 inches tall)....The Quarterback had a throw action arm, the running back was on a wind up base, the line men all sat on a green holder and it was all laid out on a plastic mat football field. Does anyone else remember this?

If I remember it was cool looking and neat to set up the plays, but the plays were not too exciting....run the back into the line and see if he could push through.

What was this called? (besides a waste of time)
my vibrating football field (Green Bay vs Pittsburg) had small gears under the base of each player that you could rotate. One part of the gear had a small piece sticking out, so if you put it on the side, the player would go left or right (in theory).

Anyone have the basketball game with the spring loaded levers? The ping pong ball would roll around until it rested in a hole, you would then pull back the lever and shoot the ball in a hoop on either end. I had the "White Shadow" version
