...caught the Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan "moving the Chains" show for a few minutes & they named the 5 teams who they thought were in the best shape going into the offseason, to be strong contenders next year. They based their rankings on: 1) Does the team have a franchise QB under contract 2) Cap space 3)available draft picks 3) Returning starters under contract 4) Something regarding years of experience of returning starters ( not exactly sure what that was) Their top 5 in no particular order:

Seattle
SF
Denver
NE
Green Bay

The advantage SF and Seattle will have is that it looks like they have potential franchise QBs that will be playing under very cheap contracts the next 2-3 years. Kaepernick and Wilson both played for about 600K this year and get slight bumps next year. Rodgers is still a bargain at 9-10 million while Brady and Manning are in the 18-20 range. It will be interesting to see what Flacco's contract ends up being and how it affects things. Rodgers is due for at least an 8 million/year raise in a couple of years. However, I wonder if Kaepernick and/or Wilson are going to be satisfied playing for 1/30th of what Brees, Manning, Brady, and Flacco are getting. Especially given that running QBs are much more likely to get hurt (and even more so after seeing what happened to RG3).
Apparently there is language in the new CBA that says rookie contracts CAN NOT be redone until after 3 years. So even if SEA agreed to it, they couldn't. It's more unfair for guys like RW and RG than the old way was to teams like OAK when it came to Jamarkup.

But let's just wait to see how these new QBs do in year 2. They seem to be better above the shoulders than Cam but I wouldn't be shocked at all to see them dip down.
