The NFL reduced the number of preseason games it's seeking to be played in 2020.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Monday that the latest proposal to players includes just one preseason game, rather than two, per sources informed of the situation.

If approved, the one preseason game would take place the week of Aug. 27, which would have been the third week of the preseason in a normal year, per Pelissero.

As the NFL moved off its two preseason game desire over the weekend, the NFLPA still wants no preseason games and a longer acclimation period.

Holding one preseason game would allow for an extra week of preparation prior to games being played, which gets closer to the recommended 21-day ramp-up of strength and conditioning that players have been seeking, but not fully there.

Oof can you imagine how big Eddie is after quarantine?

As for preseason games I agree it should be permanent. One game maybe but no more 4-5 preseason games is just too much these days and it is nothing but a money grab by the owners.  It used to be teams needed the long preseason to get players in shape but I think with all the off season conditioning, OTA's, mini camps, etc. I think the team pretty much knows who is making the team.

NFLPA tells players there will be no preseason games in 2020

The NFL Players Association on Tuesday told its players there will be zero preseason games in 2020, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Tom Pelissero and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport report via Nick Shook of NFL.com.

Union leadership shared this information with its players during a conference call one day after the league proposed a one-game preseason slate to the union, then followed that up later Monday with an adjusted offer that included zero preseason games. The NFL and NFLPA previously had been split on a preseason slate, with the league sticking to a desire to play half of a typical four-game preseason schedule before acquiescing this week.

The NFLPA also told its membership it is still pushing for a longer ramp-up period for players to physically acclimate to the training-camp demands of professional football, and it expects rosters to stand at 80 players per team. The NFL has not yet signed off on an 80-man roster for training camp, per Pelissero, and though there was a discussion on giving teams an option to divide the roster (i.e., 80 active and 10 on standby), the union told players it wanted all teams to follow one rule.

(and for some reason I can't post the link where this is written).
