It will suck if they use recanted hearsay to suspend our boys.

I thought they were to be suspended for not cooperating?

Oh my.  You can't be serious. This entire thread is archived!  All people have to do is read it (or remember it) to see how utterly inane this is.

Do you really not understand the concept of a deadline? They were to be suspended, unless they stopped following the NFLPA's advice and agreed to be interviewed. There was a contingency. It was exactly what I was worried about and wanted to avoid. I consistently said they had to interview, because if  they didn't, they could be suspended on that basis alone.  We discussed it at length in this very thread. That was the point.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Anyone who remembers all of what follows can skip to the end if they want]:

Early on, on page 1 of the thread, a day after Goldie started it, I had known a little about the Brady suspension, so I said about this investigation, "They can't stonewall on this."  This has consistently been my position, and I'm grateful for that, because it was correct then and remains correct today. It is why the players agreed to interview, to avoid the contingency suspension that was going to occur on August 26 if they did not.

On page 4 of the thread, on July 25, the day our guys were supposed to talk to league officials at TC, I mentioned in a post, "I hope the players are talking to him (Goodell or Birch) today." Cuqui accurately pointed out in a response they were not cooperating, at the direction of the NFLPA to "play it tough." This is exactly what was going on: The NFLPA was telling them they shouldn't cooperate.

I responded:

"The problem is, on appeal the Brady suspension for not cooperating was upheld. So that question appears to have been answered in Goodell's favor, at least under the current CBA. That's why I think stonewalling is the wrong call.

I was correct. It was the wrong call: On August 15, the NFL went public with their letter stating that the NFLPA position, which had been shielding the players from interviewing, wasn't going to work, and the players had to submit to interviews by August 25, or would be suspended indefinitely starting August 26, for noncooperation/conduct detrimental to the league, as linked by number of posters on page 4 of this thread.

At this point, I complained about the NFLPA's handling of the situation and said, as you correctly point out (thank you), that the advice at the time to not interview was making a suspension "ten times easier to obtain." That was a true statement. If continued it would have, and as I opined, such suspensions would have been upheld on appeal. Thankfully it didn't get to that (or isn't going to).

Obviously those suspensions haven't gone into effect.  I never said they did or were going to. We avoided them like I wanted and warned against from the beginning.

Also obviously, we no longer have to worry about Conduct Detrimental for noncooperation, because the contingency wasn't met and our boys are interviewing. Now we only have to worry about a violation of the PED policy, which is rooted in the Al Jazeera video. And yes it would suck to be suspended based on that kind of evidence.

Your argument that I somehow now can't say that, because I previously said they were to be suspended for noncooperation, is going nowhere.  Please just stop.

But because I know you won't, I will leave everyone with this:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Years ago, Miami Herald columnist Dave Barry ran this nation-wide contest to elect the"Worst Song Lyrics In History" or "Stupidest Song Ever" (or something like that). The ones I remember being in the final were "Having My Baby" by Paul Anka and America's "A Horse With No Name."

I always wondered why "Bohemian Rhapsody" wasn't up there, and I've come to the conclusion that it is because it is such a kick-ass song. Yes it is stupid, but it is awesome-stupid, so you just go with it and revel in the dumbness of it all.

I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouch scaramouch, will you do the fandango?

Thunderbolt of lightning, very very frightening me!

Galileo!

Music to keep in your head for what will inevitably follow.

CM3 and Peppers will not be suspended due to the Al Jazeera report.

Again, the Brady deal has nothing to do with this.

The NFL went public with their side of the story and used the court of public opinion to make the PA look bad by claiming the PA  was denying interviews. From the beginning the NFL said they were going to get the players to acquiesce by publicly pressuring them.

Instead, the NFL has decided to publicly pressure the players into submission.

I'm requesting something here.

Right now, Timesfour has an audience with the the JSO. They are monitoring us, because we are credible. McGinn is even a member.

If you don't know what you are talking about, then shut up. Don't destroy our credibility.

If you do know what you are talking about, then let's hear it in full. Stop playing games.

Every time we have this kind of discussion, next  thing you know, it is playing out in public.

DOES ANYONE  DOUBT THIS? We have a chance here. Quit screwing it up with bullcrap.

And for the love of Jesus, if you have a problem with me personally, then bring it to me personally. Don't ruin the whole board's credibility over your desire to matter. You don't.

Edit: not when you are just blurting out false nonsense.

Brady is precedent. A lot of the written opinion has had and will continue to a have huge impact on what is happening to Matthews and Peppers. You can't ignore the parts that apply just because some do not.

That's the short answer. I'm putting myself on probation here.

Very good piece on The Sports Reporters  this morning. All of the reporters think Goodell has overstepped but we are stuck with it until 2021 when a new CBA will come into play.  They doubt the owners will fire him because of the $$$$$$ he is making them.

You're just like me.  We are the same.  I'm your doppelganger.  Me and you.  You and I.  Samesies.
