It seems like two months ago Vontaze Burfict was being kicked around as a potential 1st round pick, even mentioned as a potential pick for GB.

Then he showed up at the combine overweight. Ran the slowest 40 yard time of any LB'er in Indy, had the shortest broad jump, and the second lowest vertical.

And now we find out he failed a drug test as well.

Up until yesterday I thought he might be a possible reclamation project for Kevin Greene and Capers as a 6th or 7th rd flyer. He ran a 4.8 40 at his Pro Day after dropping 20 lbs. But this might be the final red flag in the coffin.

Draft hype starts up with the college football season in September and carries through the end of April. Regardless of what's happened in the past, it will pretty much be overlooked if you keep your nose clean and produce on the field in your last year.

The fact that a guy like this can't just pretend to be a decent guy and teammate for 7 months with potentially millions of dollars on the line is mind boggling.
