Russell Westbrook and the Thunder eliminated on a dominant night for Lillard.

Westbrook with another meaningless stat stuffer game. The 30,000 foot view shows 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 14 assists. The closer looks shows 11 for 31 from the field.

In the 4 losses during the series, Westbrook went 29 for 89 from the floor and 7 for 28 from 3.

There might not be a worse contract in the league than Westbrook's at this point. He'd be great as a second or third guy somewhere - he'd be outstanding in the Eric Bledsoe role in Milwaukee - but his ego wouldn't allow it. In that context, he'd have space to drive and get to the rim and wouldn't be expected to be a high volume shooter (and he would stop taking low efficiency long 2s). Bledsoe takes 12 shots a game (5 threes), shoots 48% from the floor and 33% from 3. Westbrook takes 20 shots a game (7 threes and a lot of long 2s), shoots 43% from the floor and 29% from 3.

Bledsoe will make 70 million over the next 4 years. Westbrook will make 170 million over the next 4 years.

OKC should swap Westbrook for Blake Griffin. Griffin played high school and college ball in Oklahoma. Westbrook could take 30 shots a game for the Pistons and at least make things more interesting in Detroit.

Michigan,  Is Westbrook becoming another Carmello Anthony?  A guy with good offensive stats but won't ever really get his team over the hump?

I know that on ESPN's twitter they make Westbrook sound like the second coming of Wilt Chamberlain with his triple doubles but it sure looks like definately gets padded stats.

Yes, in terms of being high volume shooters that really shouldn't be high volume shooters. But their strengths were/are very different. Both guys would have been ideal to be the second best player on a good team, but neither should be taking 20 shots a game.

Westbrook is a slasher and a penetrator. As I said, he's an Eric Bledsoe type, but he plays like he's Steph Curry, Lillard, or James Harden.

Carmelo was a great spot up shooter. The problem was that he specialized in long 2s and a huge percentage of his shots were contested after isolations. He became a good 3 point shooter towards the end of his career. The problem was he shot 28% of the shot attempts in his career between 16 feet and the 3 point line. That's the least efficient shot in basketball. Carmelo shot 40% from that range. Carmelo needed to be Kevin Love (like he was with LeBron) or Khris Middleton (this year with Bud).

Playing Carmelo with Westbrook last year on OKC was the most anti-new NBA analytics thing you could do.

Curry dinged up but he still came back in the game. The "hurt" Curry still put up 24 / 6 / 6 last night.

Durant - Just looked at everybody & told everyone who the #1 player in the NBA is. There's a reason Le'Bron picked him first TWICE for the All-Star game - Le'Bron knows.

I'm hoping Giannis can develop a mid-range shot like KD - He'll be every bit as good if he can

Game over. Harden with a step back 3. Warriors down 6. Somehow, the Warriors don't have Durant touch the ball the last two possessions. I think they were more worried about keeping Curry and Klay happy than doing what was best in the moment. Durant has 43 points and can get a shot against anyone. Curry and Klay missed wide open shots they make 99 times out of 100, but give the ball to Durant.
