Another play I wondered about was the sack/strip by Sheilds. The ball was clearly loose before Cutler's knee hit, was picked up by a Bear who was never touched and as he ran to the right he just stopped running before being tackled or knock out of bounds. Was there an inadverdant whistle or something?

Inside 2 minutes the only player who can advance a fumble is the player who fumbled. Once that Bear player picked up the ball the play was instantly dead.
The Shields facemask call was one of those classic "made up on the fly" rules that seem to go against GB from time to time. See the Rodgers "unnatural throwing motion" safety against the Vikings in 2008. It was on the drive that they scored the tying TD against Atlanta in the first game.

I have never seen that called on an offensive player before. Peterson does it frequently.

Thing is, if it's a penalty, fine. But call it consistently. The Shields call was one I have never seen in all my years watching football. Forte didn't actually grab Bishop's mask and yank it, but the slow mo shows he had his hand on the mask, and the fingers starting closing on it.
