After speaking with a Packer enthusiast up in Wisconsin a few days ago, he referred me to a pretty comprehensive "all-time" Packer football card list. I thought this was a pretty cool thing to work on, and I'd like to post the list here. What better time to go back and look at the history of the team we all love than the week leading up to our next Super Bowl appearance??

This list has been created by PSA, Professional Sports Authenticators. They are the recognized hobby leader in memorabilia grading and authentication. I think the list is quite balanced. I might make a few additions, but overall, it's a nice overview of the Packer greats. I would ask what additions the other collectors of Times Four make as well.

The list:

Many of these cards are quite expensive obviously, so putting the entire thing together will take some work. But it's sort of a Packer scavenger hunt, if you will.

Thankfully, I have originals of all the pre-1979 cards listed, except the Chickle cards ($500 ish for good ones) and the '57 Hornung and Starr rookies---originals are several hundred. I have a couple of nice reprints of those however.

Leaf put out Packer cards in 1948 and 1949 that we're pretty cool (and pricey) I've got about half of them----the rest I'm working on.

Coolest cards? In 1961 Lake-to-Lake Dairy put out a really cool set of Packer cards with a number of Packers that never appeared on any of the major card sets.

A really awesome set of cards, although not trading cards but actual playing cards was put out by Stancraft in 1963. Listed are cards of Hutson, Canadeo,Hinkle, and even Curly Lambeau.

I'm also partial to a set put out by Fleer in 1961. Kind of raw pix, but pretty unique. Note the state of Wisconsin is backwards:

My all-time favorite however, still comes from the 2003 US Army set:

Great cards, guys Wink Henry Jordan always looked like somebody that would tear your head off.

I tried to pick some of the other guys from the non Lombardi/Holmgren eras that deserved inclusion. Buchannon and Brockington are no brainers. I'm a little surprised Bobby Dillon's card wasn't included in the list, as the Packer's all-time leading interception leader. From the Lombardi era, Boyd Dowler (I still think he should be in the NFL Hall of Fame), and Gale Gillingham, though he arrived at the end of Lombardi's time as coach, he was still a five time Pro Bowler. Many said he was the best offensive lineman that ever played for the Packers (hefty praise indeed considering who has played for us!)

As far as recent cards? I'd put Charles Woodson's rookie in as soon as he retires (hopefully long from now), and Aaron Rodger's 2005 Bowman Chrome is a super nice card (comes with his certified autograph).
Very tough, CitizenDan. Topps did the same thing in 1971 with their baseball card set, and it drove me nuts trying to find a clean Roberto Clemente. I finally threw my hands up in the air, and gave up. I'll go back to that pursuit someday soon now that Ebay makes shopping for sports cards more readily available.

The 1963 Stancraft set has a Johnny "Blood" Mcnally also.
This is the one I really want right now:

Going for about $200, and it will climb. Aaron's one of the hottest guys in all of sports card collecting. That's a nice mid level rookie card for him.

There's a few with real small prints where he's not only autographed it, but they have swatches from game worn jerseys and part of a football used in a game. That's a few thousand bucks.
Ok, I'm working on this set, and I made my first buy. Since Donald Driver is my favorite Packer, it was a natural choice to start my quest.

The 1999 Fleer Focus is the best Driver rookie, and a few days ago, I learned that there was a rare variation of the card, called Fleer Focus Stealth. Same card, but instead of the red lettering and logo, everything is Green. The regular issue was limited to 3,850 cards. The Stealth version is limited to 300.

The regular issue. Green looks better than red Wink This is one #13 that turned out to be quite lucky for the Pack.
