Dad, having been in the trades, "knows people" -- or, at least, knew people since he's old enough that most of the people he knew are retired/moved away/dead.  so it's helped with getting people to do some of the necessary work.

On the bright side, after Mom died, my sisters came up from Texas to help clean out a couple of rooms, so upstairs is only a partial disaster area.  I just got rid of three boxes of stuff from my bedroom that I think were in the closet since high school.

You've been in the closet since high school?

As Finn mentioned a living estate sale/auction is a strong option. They do charge a commission for whats sold. But way less manual labor on your part.

Can also pack up stuff to donate to Goodwill or St Vinnies or Salvation Army, or thrift store of choice. You may be able to deduct the value of donations from your taxes. That likely will take numerous trips unless you rent a U-Haul to take larger loads. Perhaps you could hire a moving company to pack it up and take it to aforementioned charities.

Consignment shops will take good clothing to sell, even vintage. You will get paid a percentage of what sells.

Can also have large garage sales during spring/summer/fall.

For basically useless junk/trash look into your counties policies on how to dispose of it at the county dump or trash removal service.

If there is lots of metal involved perhaps a metal scrap dealer will buy it from you?

I'm sure there are more options that I cant think of at the moment. Good luck.

I love poker. I lost my butt in a no limit game last night at hardrock in tampa. I could not hit a card or draw all night. Meanwhile the idiots throwing money away could not miss. I hate poker.

I was in a poker group of women that played for almost 20 years……a blast, once a month, just a blast.  We’d take road trips for a weekend in the Spring and Fall we did fly to Vegas a couple different times too.  Haven’t played now for 3 years…..miss it terribly. 😒
