On this day in Packer history.  Jan. 28, 1959

Vince Lombardi, an offensive assistant of the New York Giants, was named the Packers' fifth head coach. Lombardi went on to win five NFL championships in Green Bay.     Starting salary  $$ 9k year, plus $$ 500. bonus if he won a Super Bowl.

The important thing here is that Lombardi got a BONUS if he won the SB.  Did MLF get a BONUS written into his contract for winning a SB?  Maybe this is the problem.  Without the extra money maybe MLF has decided he is paid to get to the NFCCG.  So why win it and not start his vacation 2 weeks early?

And the MLF era began....

Plays, and/or ref rulings like this are exactly why I pay no mind to any "referees are partial to the Packers" crap that is espoused by some.
Even if that were true, they've paid a heavy price for it.

As an aside, who remembers Scott McGarrahan?
(A 6th round pick in his rookie year, who played sparingly and did next to nothing in 3 years, other than making Jerry Rice fumble, likely more by accident than intentionally, but still...).

Turned out to be a pretty good hire.
