I still think SF is the scariest team in the NFC.  If their guys get healthy that D can cause a lot of problems.   They are also built to go on the road and win.  I am not sure New Orleans or AZ or even Seattle can say the same thing.

I also am not sold on either Dallas or AZ.  At some point Murray and or Romo are going to break down and does anyone think the Cards can win long term with Palmer?  AZ is this years Carolina and Dallas is bound to fade.

Analysis fail.

Using a rating system that accounts for margin of victory, home-field advantage, strength of schedule, and prior performance and then simulating the rest of the season thousands of times, Silver determined the probability each team has of making the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl.

The NFL uses a rating system that accounts for a 16 game season followed by playoffs.

Here's a link to the Sagarin Ratings and they explain a bit more about ELO, PURE POINTS and GOLDEN MEAN in terms of how they are calculated

http://sagarin.com/sports/nflsend.htm

And you can see how the teams rate under each scenario. Its updated each week and the overall RATING on the left side is pretty close to the point spread each week

Team rise /fall each week and the numbers are updated on Mondays

Lots more football to be played...but the Seahawks started the season as #1

Packers started the year at 7, rose to 4 and now dropped to # 8

Yeah, I can see them possibly winning it all with Palmer. Jared Veldheer may be the best FA signing this year as that offensive line got exponentially better just by adding a quality LT. They are just an all-around solid team so they should be in the playoffs and after that, who knows?

Probably. Their defense was elite any way you slice it and they were the popular pick to win/get to the SB by a lot of people during the off-season prior to the start of the 2010 season

the article was still nonsense, however.

I really don't think there's any favorite in the NFC this year. Really don't see much separating the teams. Cards, record wise, appear to be the gold standard this season in the NFC, but something about them I just don't buy. Maybe their history of failures plays a role in me just not really being convinced. Their defense is absolutely for real, but I don't really worry about their weapons on offense or playing in their house considerng they aren't known to have some great fan base/HFA type thing. We'd probably hear more Pack fans in their stadium if the Packers had to play them there in a playoff game

Packers, Saints, Niners, Eagles, Cowboys, Lions, Seattle....all seem pretty much the same to me. One week they look great, the other they don't. Eagles, Saints and Packers each have bad defenses with explosive offenses. Cowboys defense isn't great either but they have a nasty running attack. Lions have a great defense but their offense has been underwhelming(we'll see how they do when they get their studs back). Seattle's defense hasn't played up to it's standards so far and their offense lacks weapons at WR/TE and their OL play leaves a lot to be desired. Niners have been ravaged by injury this season, and honestly don't look like a playoff team this year

Crazy to say but the Lions actually look like they could be the most balanced team in the conference. Their defense has been carrying them through this stretch where they have been trying to get by without any of their skill position players. Once they get Calvin back as well as Bush and their TE's, they have the makings of a top notch offense to pair with an already top notch defense

I still remember the playoff game between the Bengals and Steelers when Palmer had that knee injury.  I hope his performance issues were related to that injury and that it is behind him and he shows that he is a pretty good quarterback.

I basically never see the Cardinals play, but that is my hope anyway.

Most certainly there are teams using electronic cheating whether it was to listen in to their opponents or to chatter with their own. I'd be interested in learning if teams do a security sweep of their hotels, visitor lockeroom and other areas prior to playing an away game

There were allegations against the Saints which were quickly swept under the same rug Roger used for Spygate. And that's just team on team stuff. We also have the unholy alliance between the networks, advertisers and referees which is yet another opportunity for abuse of the game in order to make.... mo money. Stakes are simply too high for them not to try it
