Counsell needs to sit down with Anderson and teach him how to slide.

Dude... Barnes is filthy. The Brewers could have a really dominant BP with this group. But Knebel couldn’t locate his damn curve again... they weren’t  jacking him around the yard, but blowing your first save isn’t a good look.

Of course, it probably shouldn’t have been 1-0. Lots of chances with a clutch hit or two But a strong defensive win. That 5-2-3 DP was not something normally seen in Milwaukee. Great first game. Let’s knock around for the next one...

Anderson started right where he left off in 2017.  If he keeps this up he’s a legit ace starting pitcher.  Only concern is when he hits and gets on base as bad things seem to happen (injuries).  He has to stay healthy and that slide could have been a disaster.

On the other hand, Braun starting right where he left off.   Leaving guys on base.  I’d love to know his BA with RISP over the last 150 games or so.  It’s got to be pretty bad.

Cain and Yelich are going to set the table a lot but Braun and Shaw have got to deliver.  They didn’t yesterday.

Like that?

Game winning three run homer in the top of the ninth!

A guy assessing the Hall of Fame possibilities for players in the NL Central said, "Braun doesn't have the bat speed he once did."

His bat looked plenty fast crushing that fastball high in the strike zone. And Braun knew he got all of it. If he gets that swagger back, this offense could be very interesting.

I've watched that bomb about five times now.

Ha! I love the expression of the Padres fans behind the plate. From anticipation of a win to crushed with one swing of the bat!

I watched the replay of the HR several times and I couldn't stop laughing. Especially at the guy in the black jacket to the left of home plate and the guy in the blue jacket to the right. Both were smiling happy then after Braun hit it, the look of horror.

The rather "large" blonde woman in the second row cracks me up. She looks so happy, and then, when Brauny sends it into orbit, this look of disbelief covers her face as her mouth opens up to swallow a galaxy. And the guy next to her puts his hands on his head, as in "oh no!"

Braun has really enjoyed some monster home runs at Petco.
