Lot of storm clouds on the horizon…long term stadium issues, Burnes and Woodruff free agency. Let’s enjoy the journey this year and surprise some folks.

Some memories:

I only saw one game in person in 1970, that was a mid summer game at Fenway. Thru the fog of 53 years and a few Narragansett’s I clearly only remember on a couple of things.

One, if you bought a beer you had to drink it in the concourse, which of course is why I don’t recall much detail of the game.

Two, Reggie Smith hit a shot that went into the right field bleachers for a homer, it was hit so hard the the Brewer first baseman (don’t remember who) jumped up to attempt to catch it.

I just realized this (that today is Opening Day). Makes me feel old and disconnected from the game. I remember my entire life living for this day. When I lived up North it was the telltale sign of Spring even if it was snowing and 30 degrees out.

when my daughter got into grade school I'd pick her up early from school and go home and out game on and grill brats. I need to bring it back home and reconnect this year. Shit, if KC can win a WS within the past 10 years why not "us"!

Went to Opening Day in Milwaukee once. Good Old County Stadium.  It snowed, Robin Yount hit a long drive to left in the 9th inning that was caught at the wall for the final out.  Any other day it would have been a game winning homer.

I called my brother, he has gone to opening day for, just forever…….but not this year.  He had his hip worked on and is unable to attend.  He’s just sick about it too.  I shouldn’t have called him to make it worse, but he was glad to talk and it’s always good talking to family eh??  Go Brewers Go.

any free streaming sites? seems like many from last year have been shut down

It's not free but I've used uzzu.tv for the last 2 years. About $100 per year - get all MLB, NFL, NBA and regional sports networks.

This is a completely different team than we've seen. Turang should be the 2B if he's as good as he looks. Great speed, defense, fundamentally sound, and a high IQ player. He's giving the Brewers the quality ABs that Urias doesn't. His game is very much like Mitchell's. Weimer will probably be the odd man out when Taylor returns unless he's hitting about .400. Too bad because has all the tools but has options. Anderson isn't a youngster but Turang at 2B and Anderson at 3B is a major upgrade over Wong and Urias. Add in Contreras and this is a much improved team. And Yelich is hitting the ball hard again. Ammo, you are correct, there is a lot be excited about. The jury is out on the bullpen.

Really liked how those rookie’s looked in this series. If Yelich continues to improve and the pitching holds…could be a fun year. Worried about the late inning bullpen though.

Middle bullpen is more of a concern for me.  Varland had a very good spring.  Williams just needs to settle down and concentrate and not try to imitate Hader.   Just trust that things will work themselves out.

If middle relief doesn't get it done I'm not sure how much flexibility there will be. Last season guys were getting shuttled up and down to Nashville. But I'm not sure if any of the new bullpen guys have options remaining.

I miss the days when 7,8,9 was Boxberger, Williams and Hader….that was money.

Money is why they are no longer here.

I reluctantly get not having Hader at 15 million a year.

To let Boxberger go for the equivalent of about 2 million a year was mindboggling. The Brewers are actually paying him 750K this year to play for the Cubs. The Cubs are paying him 2 million.

The fear is that the the young guys on offense will come into their own (and still be cheap) at the same time the pitchers get sold off because they become too expensive.

I know this issue is a month or two away but when Taylor and Urias come back who gets sent down? Unless Weimer is really excelling I can see him getting sent out when Taylor comes back but what about the other spot when Urias returns? The Brewers might regret signing Voit, who  ties up a roster spot without providing any flexibility, especially after they were able to hang on to Huira who is a similar player.
